Is there any existing mining operations anywhere in the world that is sustainable? I genuinely would like too know....

    That's not how capitalism works.

It's not about what is fair to charge. It's about what the customer is prepared to pay.

Since the majority of supply is controlled by a few there are no choice for the customers and the demand.

Fix the root cause and the rest will solve itself.

I was on scheduled for an operation but it got better just before the operation do I cancelled it out. I was under the impression that it's better to let the body heal itself instead of start cutting in it.

Later I would learn that a "degenerated disc" will never heal completely.
There will always be a high risk of it collapsing and with that a high risk of The same symptoms appearing again.

Luckily I haven't had any episodes since then. However, there is other things with my neck now that wasn't there before the disc herniated.
One thing is that I sometimes have to crack my neck to get a relief. It's like pain and tension build up in the neck without me registering it during the day.
I don't regret not getting the operation. Even though millions of patients have gone through the procedure there are still complications that can happen.
For example lose the ability to swallow among other things.
Fun thing: the surgeon good in in the front of your neck to be able to remove the disc. There is a lot of stuff that is in the way before getting access to the disc.

15 years ago I got a herniated disc in my neck. If I raised my head, looking straight ahead, I got intense pain in my neck. While the pain in the neck was excruciating, it was nothing compared to the pain in my left arm, thumb and 1½ finger. Yes, half of a finger... Only the left side of my long finger was affected. Nerve connections are weird.
It took the doctors around 2 trips to the ER to take my complaints seriously and an additional 2 weeks before I was rolled into the MRI.
Before the broken disc was confirmed by MRI I was living in constant pain. Worst pain I've ever had. I popped Oxy like it was candy. It sort of numbed it the worst pain but it didn't help much. Two months earlier I had started at a new job. I have notes from that time, written in my handwriting but I have no memory of me writing or where I was making the notes.

This is where things turned really ugly.
After one week of 1-2 hours of sleep per night I really lost all hope in everything.
I've never been suicidal but what scares me is that on the second week in constant pain, unable to find any position where I could relax the slightest, ending it all emerged as a perfectly sane remedy.
It scares me when I think back. It was just relief. Ending my life was a positive thing.

When the results from the MRI came back the doctor prescribed Lyrica (Pregabalin).

Holy F***! Two weeks in and the pain was almost entirely gone. My fingers were still numb but my brain was clear and I could sleep!
I started catching up what I missed att my new job. Life slowly came back.

While there are risks of adverse side effects I am convinced that Lyrica (Pregabalin) saved my life. I know that I wouldn't have lasted another week without it.

I'm pretty sure that you have to come here to get serious work from a serious employer.

The article didn't mention two things that somewhat trend to shock people in the states:

    1. There is no minimum wage in Sweden. Labor law mentions nothing about salary levels in that sense. The short version is that the Swedish system is based on that every market area knows best about what's possible to set as a minimum. This means that the employer representatives and employee representatives (the Unions) negotiate the details for a collective agreement ("kollektivavtal") the will stand for the coming three years. Everything from minimum wage, overtime compensation (some agreements have hourly pay for overtime and others have removed the hourly pay for and additional extra week of vacation each year) and other things. Important to remember that these things are minimum levels. An employer can always give you better terms. They seldom do, but they are allowed.

    2. When sacking people the employer need to negotiate with the Union first. The main rule is "first in, last out". If you get sacked it's normally on 3 months notice. Why is this bad thing according to the Americans I've been working with?

    It goes both ways. 😁

If you quit, you will have to keep working there for 3 more months if your employer requires you to.

Sweden here. Just want to clarify why a Collective Bargaining Agreement ("Kollektivavtal") is so important.

In Sweden there is no minimum wage. It's perfectly legal to hire someone for 0SEK/month.
The reason is because the system is built on the idea of the employer representatives and employee representatives knows what conditions are viable in that specific business area. Not the politicians.
So every the years each area (banking, telecom, industrial manufacturing, school, health care etc etc) representatives from the employers associations meet up with the employee associations (unions) of The same area and negotiate.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement only sets the minimum. So that if an employer wants to give his employees an raise of 100000SEK a month it's ok.

Now, imagine an employer that is able to hire people for under the standard, that gives an unfair advantage.

So this is not only about making sure that Klarna compensates their employees fairly, it's also about stopping unfair competition.
