I will judge them if they bring hate or violence to the world, but for the most part I've given up trying to modify their behavior.
I know some people in my life who are like this. I recently got so frustrated with them that I came to the same conclusion.
Tangent from my own life related to this.
I realized I don't have the energy for it, and more over it's energy wasted because they don't change no matter what approach I take. They're too entrenched.
We can't even have a discussion because their standards are inconsistent and change based on whatever justifies their point of view.
Heck, the main person who drove this will actively incite conflict. If you ignore it or just try to brush it aside, they will keep trying to bring it up in increasingly abrasive ways.
What's crazy is that even though they're like this online, and why I left that discord, I just saw them in person and we were completely fine. Even getting along.
It's interesting that we can be in conflict with the same person's online persona but completely fine with their IRL persona.
Anyways, all that to say props to you for coming to that realization probably long before I did! It's good for your health.

In normal weather, the air near the ground is hotter and cools higher up. Due to how density works, warm air rises and cold air falls. This promotes the mixing of air - including polluted air from the local area or blowing through the valley.
Inversion refers to when this temperature effect inverts. Because in this scenario, colder air is near the bottom, and warmer air is higher up, there isn't as much mixing of the air since the air is closer to a density-driven equalibrium (you can think of it as the densities of air are more where they 'want' to be, so have no 'drive' to move) and it effectively keeps polluted air pocketed near the surface.
Basically the natural geography and weather effects at certain times of the year, mainly winter, cause this effect in Utah.
The result is it can look really foggy and have terrible air quality during inversion.
If it rains or snows during inversion, the change in temperature promotes air mixing and clears this up for a short time, so it actually becomes pretty clear out for a while - though seeing the sharp contrast in person is somehow a bit more unsettling, since you really notice how gross it's been.

Not sure if my experience is in any way representative of normal, but will share it all the same.
[Sorry in advance for the text wall]
When you mentioned 'Tainted Love', while not familiar enough with it to know much beyond the chorus, I mentally tried to "listen" to it and could "hear" the beat, him singing the lyrics word for word, with the right timing, etc.
I'm sure there's a slight difference somehow vs reality or I'm missing something (human recollection is very rarely perfect), but listening to the same part IRL afterwards I can't readily notice any difference from what I "mentally" heard.
Not sure if there's a trick to it, but I've found the best success when I'm actively trying to "hear" the music as if I was listening to it, but with the passive effort you'd have if you were genuinely doing so - if that makes sense. Kind of like tuning your hearing in to listen to background music you weren't paying attention before in a coffee shop.
Maybe that primes the same pathways as when you listen a bit more, and triggers a more complete recollection - like a re-experience vs actively trying to re-create how it sounds in your mind? No idea, complete armchair theory and probably wrong lol.
Additionally, I have an inner monologue of my thoughts that I mentally "hear" as if you were hearing it out loud, and same when I read text. Like literally as I'm typing this I hear it.
The voice is masculine and close to my own, but if I'm honest there's a slight difference to where it's slightly closer to a middle ground than my IRL voice.
If I try to imagine someone I know saying something, I actually "hear" their voice saying it - often with their personality traits as well.
Ex: the way they would respond and chuckle to a light joke they "said" in my mind in their specific mannerisms and way - even if I didn't prompt it with any specific wording or specific intent on what they'd "say".
I'll also somehow imagine and assign voices to characters based on descriptions given, but on some level my brain clearly fills in the gaps with its own interpretation.
Using the example given in another comment in this thread, I can also imagine an apple in a space, in a scene, and even rotating it 360 degrees or changing the color (red apple, green apple, etc.) or changing it from realistic, to cartoonish, to abstract.
Much like the character voice I mentioned, my brain will fill in any details somehow if not described.
Ex: Initially the red apple was rotating toward the right and had a few natural imperfections on the starting side (like small holes you'd see in actual apples IRL) but as it rotated my brain added a quarter-size bruise to the side it rotated to in the upper middle of the apple - even though that was never part of the "imagine an apple" prompt.

Luckily my work allows for temporary admin rights.
Used Reg editing to:
- Make it so the Search Bar only searches for device files (stops it from searching the internet).
- Disable Copilot.
- Disable Outlook from using Hardware Acceleration (this used to be in Outlook settings but was removed).
I'm not nearly as tech savvy as most here, but thankfully the Internet has solutions.

I'm glad I did.
Got past the first few episodes and it was hilarious. Def surprised me.
I like One Punch Man (OPM) too, but this is like the OPM of Harry Potter and other magic tropes - but much more focused on comedy than OPM.
I has a ton of references to other magic media as well (sometimes very directly lol).
That's not to say it doesn't have a plot, action, etc. - it does and it's still very entertaining in those aspects as well.

Once I got into the first arc, I was hooked. Already on Tokyo Ghoul:Re and probably will be through that soon.
Fantastic so far. I really like the intrigue of unravelling what's going on, the creativity of the power system - particularly for the humans but also the ghouls as well.
To me it's incredibly well choreographed (?) and artistic in how it presents its pannels, scenes, character development, and narritive.
Loving it right now.

I think a more effective approach or addition would be to get more money to the average person directly via wage/gains caps and minimum living wage (whatever they want to call it these days to try to get around it).
Basically the difference between the highest compensated (pay, stock, etc) person and the lowest compensated person (including contractors) can't be more than X multiplier (ex: 50x).
You'd also need an enforcement committee as well with harsh penalties in multiples of what might be gained by doing so.
To be clear: I think this should be done in addition to increased taxation of the obscenely wealthy, as this is also important.
Also I'm in no way an expert and could be very wrong. I'd love to hear any thoughts on this (why it would/wouldn't work, other considerations, building on it, etc.).

To me it seems like it might be both for some people. I love my job and care about the work I do, but the amount of work is debilitating and unending. Valuing one's job might have a compounding factor in some cases which drives increased productivity to one's detriment.
I definitely relate - esp when you mentioned you don't have time to do the things you want to do. I'm there right now unfortunately.
I think part of the response to the original commentor above is that it feels like, generally speaking, the average worker's workload has greatly increased. This is compounded by cost of living increases (housing, inflation, etc.) and a lack of wage reconcilliation and otherwise to address these issues across the board.
So it feels like you're working harder than ever, getting promotions, etc. but it seems more often than not you feel further behind and less 'free' (e.g. financially mobile, general opportunity and choice in multiple aspects of life) than you were even a few years ago.
I love my job, the people I work with, heck I even have massive respect for people through several rungs of the corporate ladder above me. My job and bosses are extremely flexible with work-life overall. I consider myself incredibly fortunate and am very thankful for it.
The problem is there aren't enough hands. I'm buried in work while more keeps getting added. I can never get caught up or even close. I value my work and all that entails and feel grateful, and so I feel even more pressure than I already do to complete the work and catch up.
And in order to try to catch up, I put things I want to do outside of work on the backburner - even important things like my health (diet, exercise, heck just going outside lol).
It's demoralizing, wears you down, and leaves you drained but it never seems to end.

To me, it really emphasized working hard to grow stronger regardless of what you're working at.
I'm literally watching my first run through the original Dragonball right now. I was literally just finishing the Firebird episode when I opened this.
I'm on the last few episodes.
This is devastating.
Thank you Akira Toriyama for everything. You'll be greatly missed. Thanks for having such a positive influence on my childhood and many others.

I've always loved that Fromsoft made the enemies strong, but felt balanced within the same realm of gameplay mechanics that your character is bound to (with occational slight deviations which feel story/character appropriate overall).
I'm concerned b/c it seems lately they're getting further away from that just for the sake of difficulty.
After beating some of the demigods, my character is supposed to have gained enough runes that, for most builds, you'd think we'd be closer in ability to npcs of a similar caliber across the board.
Instead I feel like I do chip damage while they do chonk damage (slight exaggeration, but you get my point). The difference in stamina and general character mobility is pretty crazy too.
This dissonance is jarring to me and ruins an otherwise beautifully harmonious game.

When on it, I had zero contrast so everything felt bland and my emotions were heavily muted.
I love Hitman and the new 007 game.
It will definitely feel a lot more linear, but there are some options (the characters even react or comment on your choices or how you do sometimes).
I'm only on my 1st playthrough, so who knows what I'll find on repeat attempts, but yeah I would expect a more linear game.
That doesn't make it bad IMO, in fact I think the game benefits from it.
It somehow nails the movie+game feel so seamlessly it's impressive. The linearity just adds to that feel. Its like a curated 007 adventure that you're actively a part of.
You make choices, you do things your own way to a degree, but the linearity guides the action. You're on the 007 theme ride vs a car in the city. Sure, you can't just go anywhere, but there are reason people go to theme parks - they're fun!
The strength of the game, in my opinion, isn't so much the options part like Hitman but rather the fusion of gameplay and especially the characters, dialogue, and feel of the game which just nail the Bond vibe/feel for you as the player.
I fully trust the Bond franchise in their hands 100%.
Additionally, you don't really get disguises the same way as hitman. They are sometimes present but not really - and def not the same way as hitman.
