It's just not something anyone pays that much attention to, and so of course the memory gets distorted over time.
Similarly, the "original" example of the Mandela effect is regarding Nelson Mandela supposedly dying in prison in the 80s. There are many people online claiming to share this memory, but they all seem to be Americans who were young children in the 80s - i.e., people who simply would not have paid that much attention to news from South Africa. I'd be much, much more interested if an actual South African claimed to have experienced this.

Yet a Google search just now for my username revealed an 8-year-old comment that I would have deleted years ago from my profile, but is still there. Are these reappearing comments definitely being deleted from and then reappearing to the profile page?

Although listed in years for convenience, the numbers at this point are so vast that their digits would remain unchanged regardless of which conventional units they were listed in, be they nanoseconds or star lifespans.

But he would be eligible to stand as a candidate in that by-election so could potentially, if successful, be re-elected right back to Parliament. There's nothing to prevent him from running again at future elections.
It wouldn't surprise me though if he declined to stand again (to avoid the risk of a humiliating defeat) and instead stood again in a safe(r) Tory seat at the next election.

A great social commentary on 1830s rural England.
I also recently finished The Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina, an investigative journalist who has spent years covering a variety of illegal or unethical activities taking place on the world's oceans. It was completely gripping and quite an eye-opener as to the brutal reality of life at sea.

No political or political-adjacent organisation is going to be perfectly in line with your beliefs. I also think Amnesty got the tone of that report on Ukraine wrong (even if there is a valid point buried in it - but that's a separate discussion), but it seems a bit naive to discount every statement made by an organisation because they got one wrong. Do you disagree with the issues raised in this report on India?
