I was looking at kagi a while ago. I think after this continuation of enshittification I might be going harder in that direction.
Aside from that I need a change in how I do things anyway so some focus is needed. My phone and the internet in general need to become more tools rather than entertainment and a social space and I need to go outside and walk on the grass more.

I'd like a simple, concise, logical explanation of Web 3.0 without a host of buzzwords tbh. One that simply answers two questions: What is it and what does it do?

I've seen a van dropping them off. It's clearly a good revenue scheme for someone (possibly not the actual beggar). It looks like they're shipping in their disabled for 'work'.
Seasonal or professional begging should definitely be discouraged imo.

Last time I checked Monzo bank here in the UK was riddled with them. As I'm in my fifties it doesn't seem right that a bank uses them somehow.

Whenever I see a text riddled with them, I am likely to take the entire text a bit less seriously,

Always a triggering one for me. My son and I were out the other day and saw someone offer some food to a homeless guy who politely said 'no thanks'. They got all upset about it, swore at them and called them an ungrateful c word before storming off.
It was a good discussion point for my son and I and reinforced our 'let people live their lives how they want' philosophy.

Imagine stuxnet on steroids with no counter.

I think this unlikely but possible enough that it needs to be thought about. Having said that I'm sure far more intelligent people than I have been thinking about scenarios.

Only my opinion ofc but move slow isn't an option, AI is just as powerful a weapon as nukes; it's not what AI will do to humans I fear as much as what humans will do with AI to each other.

I'm never a fan of gamifying things and Brave stunk of it (with the crypto aspect and some such) which is why my dalliance with it was short-lived. And subsequently my feelings were confirmed by the stuff mentioned above and other things commenters have mentioned.
Be aware Brave supporters are very much as rabid about it as cryptobros if you're going to diss it online.

Not a rewrite as such but the ending of The Shawshank Redemption.

    Spoiler

I would have been perfectly happy with it ending with Red on that bus as a free man.

The point being that you most often see what you're attuned to.
I think there's definitely an element of that at play here.

Not debating this one way or the other but I've been banging on for ages that what any country should be strongly striving for is energy independence.

US is virtually self-sufficient for its energy needs, which undergird all economic activity.

I really wonder how many people really need the levels of security touted when these kind of things come up.

Is Proton (and other privacy focussed email providers) better than gmail, yahoo, hotmail et al? Yes!

Is it as good as... I don't know, roll your own on a virtual machine or server somewhere? Probably not.

The old analogy about how determined the thief (or law enforcement/the gubberment) is comes to mind.
