In the area I live in, there are two issues with trying to support smaller local bands:

    1. Essentially no advertisement when there will be live music. We have the market area where there will occasionally be some higher-profile concerts, but the small local groups are playing in bars that don't even have a Facebook page.
    2. An overwhelming portion of them are modern Country groups (yay southeastern US), which is not a genre I enjoy.

I have managed to find one group I enjoy and can support, but that's mostly because I work with the lead guitarist's father.

Have you had any issues with durability? It looks like it could take a hit. Also, are there any apps that you have issues receiving notifications from?

It looks like a pretty good option, especially with Notify support. I can't find a face width, but with a 36 mm screen and a roughly 2 mm bezel, I would assume it is roughly 40 mm. Thank you for...

It appears to be supported by Notify as well (although technically a different app, Notify for Amazfit)

If you use Notify, they are unsure if they will be able to support the 8 for a while due to OS changes. I am pleasantly surprised how well the 4 works as well.

It looks good and seems to support the features I want. It does look a little delicate, though, and I am not very good at babying my daily wear watches. Have you had any issues with that?

Summary because I rambled a bit below: I would like suggestions for a smartwatch primarily for notifications with a good battery life and a price of less than 400 USD.

I have been using a Xiaomi Mi Band 4 for two or three years now and I'm considering upgrading to a "real" smartwatch. My primary uses for it are silent alarms and notifications, but I really need at least a 4 day battery life. My main watch when I am not wearing the Mi Band is a 38mm Timex IronMan, and I am comfortable with that size. I would like any potential smartwatch to be no larger than a 42 mm face. I would like the smartwatch and potential connected app to at least pretend not to sell my data. This is why I use the paid version of Notify for Mi Band instead of the official app (that and all of the customization). My other uses for the smartwatch are less important to me, but include step counting, activity tracking (primarily walking and biking), and sleep tracking.

I have been looking at a Garmin Instinct 2S, since it has a long battery life and apparently Garmin is "better" with data security than most. In addition, I could even use the watch without ever downloading the app, although I have yet to find out if notifications would work in that case. The 300 USD price tag is a little jarring, coming from the 35 USD Mi Band, but comparable options are just as pricey.

Honestly, the Mi Band 7 calls to me because it has improved significantly over the 4 and is supported by Notify. It would not be the "upgrade" that I had originally intended, though, and I would continue to have issues with the specialty bands for it.

Does anyone have any alternative suggestions or experiences with the above?

I'm in USDA Hardiness Zone 8a, so my experience with cold winters is minimal. That said, I have never had any problems growing any kind of basic chili pepper in a pot, indoors or out when they are started from a preexisting seedling. You would likely need at least a grow lamp if you don't get enough sun in your house, and the lack of heat would likely result in milder peppers (from what I have been told). Starting from seed, though, is another story. I have never successfully started a pepper plant from seed.

Fantastic question. Keys actually only work on the level they are found. All locked chests/doors have a corresponding key on the same level. Some may have to be found using search (tapping the magnifying glass twice). In fact, this goes for all blocked-off area. If you find some items blocked by green fire, a potion of frost is guaranteed to be on that level. Some chests on a floating platform, a potion of levitation. And so on.

Whenever you start out, you may find it better to ignore some of these things because you will die of starvation if you take too long. As you get better, you will start to see patterns much easier and be able to clear out floors quickly enough.

My father and I used to fish when I was a kid. We were of the mindset that if you caught it (and it was large enough/old enough) you had to eat it. I enjoyed the process of fishing (well, as much as any kid enjoys sitting still and being quiet), especially that moment when you get a bite. I did not, however, enjoy cleaning the fish. Haha.

I have the equipment to get back into it, but I haven't really set aside the time for it.

I'm not sure if it counts as Idle, but my go-to brief time waster is Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It looks like it may cost money on the App Store (I got it on Android where it is free, but I've since put about $15 into it as donation because I like it so much).

It's a rogue-lite dungeon crawler, so it has pseudo-randomly generated levels with permadeath. It has a ton of documentation and a very active developer. Each movement is a "turn", and it constantly keeps track of your progress, so it is great for pulling up for 30 seconds. It can also entertain you for much longer than that whenever you get on a good run.

Unfortunately, since we make the unfinished cloth (raw, not dyed, and not sewn), I don't know if any of it goes out to general consumers. Primarily we make military and work wear uniforms, with a bit of flag fabric as well. After we weave it, we send it off to the "finishers" who process it and sell it.

As far as quality goes, in clothing ring spun yarn is typically softer feeling and a bit stronger. If it doesn't say ring spun, then it probably isn't, because that's typically a more expensive process. Most of our cloth is a nylon-cotton blend, which isn't terribly comfortable but will absolutely last. The only raw backpack fabric I've personally seen is completely nylon, so I can't comment as much on that.

It was honestly a last choice thing. It was either work "on the floor" there as a weaver or work at McDonalds. I've gotten a couple promotions along the way that make me pretty happy with it, though.

Ultimately, we are (almost) all just strangers on the internet. From the context provided, it did not seem like the original post was specifically highlighting their scars. With that in mind, it's situationally identical to seeing some stranger in a public place and asking them to cover up. In that situation, if it bothered you, you would likely just look away and move on. I'm not sure why that wouldn't also be the appropriate response here.
