Ah yes. Hadn't played Stuntman but GTA was a blast for doing the most insane things you could. The cheat codes were hilarious, agreed on the flying cars.

I will never forget this. My 12 or whatever year old self was absolutely pumped.

Great article, this was a lot of fun to see the competitiveness and community around it. Some of those levels look dastardly. Also cool to see how easy it is to make levels. The editor is really nice.

Thanks all for the replies. I can definitely understand the appeal better now. Sounds like it is really creatively stimulating and has a ton of nostalgia and replayability.

Ha yeah I had a lot of fun with Gary's mod back in the day. Good stuff. Maybe that's waiting to be reawakened in me.

Hmm ok this is piquing my interest. I didn't think of all the types of levels. Do the more popular levels get "voted" to the top or are otherwise easily found?

Thanks! Are there high scores per level or some way for it to be competitive? Or do you compete against yourself?

I like games that you build stuff like KSP but just wondering what the appeal of SMM2 is.

I wonder if that's the point. I had the same reaction too. Is there some "benefit" they're seeking by preventing international travel altogether? Or at least, severely hampering it?

How can they say "already used by millions" for each of the products? I see that they're not locked into one tech company but what platform are they then leveraging?

But yeah. I was pretty bummed seeing that we have one of the worst situations here. And I don't buy the argument of streams eating at ticket sales, but I'd be interested in seeing research if true.

Trying to reignite my interest in baseball since moving to LA. Was a big Yankees fan as a kid and it's fallen by the wayside since about 15 years ago. Dodgers are huge here so I thought it would be a great way for me to assimilate and have some camraderie with friends here.

Got an MLB.tv membership through T mobile and thank God I didn't have to pay for it because I was blindsided by the blackouts. I cut cable moving here and find it infuriating that I have no way of watching the games except via VPN, which I've now hooked up thanks to the recent VPN thread.

Anyway, it's been a really great way to push out new fans.

A first draft of the law mandated that Russian internet providers should ensure the independence of the Russian internet space (Runet) in the case of foreign aggression to disconnect the country from the rest of the internet.

This is the part that freaks me out. To me, this type of preparation indicates that they are expecting retaliation. We already know that they have been engaging in cyber-warfare attacks against the US (and other countries?), but are they planning something even bigger besides "meddling"? Might they try to bring the internet to a halt somehow (DNS server attacks, for example)?

I deactivated my FB account about 5 years ago. There have been repeated instances of not being invited to something because I wasn't on FB and was forgotten.

I am on Instagram, so there's some of the weak-bond interaction there, and people are far less political.

I didn't originally leave FB due to their lack of ethics, I was annoyed that people were relying on it so heavily to get in touch with me. I didn't check it that frequently towards the end, so some family members were getting annoyed with that... didn't want to deal with that garbage.

Now, with the ethical considerations, I'm unsure how to proceed with Instagram, as it keeps those weak-bonds in place for me.

Not exactly probable. Possible though yes. Most sources are saying it's not likely, CFRA and Fed, while media outlets are jumping on the scaremongering train.
