But also, I think mechanics wise, the games are roughly the same, just that 14 is still in a playtest and development state and will likely just have updated features. -

The integrity of the role play is held pretty highly, but it's not nearly as strict as you might think. Which sounds contradictory, but it's hard to explain.
14 LRP servers are still very chaotic and you get away with a lot more than the medium or high RP servers.
Really the only thing you banned for there is actively making the game not fun for someone else by trolling or otherwise "self antagging" to a certain degree.
You'll just have to feel around and ask. -

The general culture is something I enjoy seeing . I just hope it stays that way and continues to improve. The LRP/MRP divide certainly helps, but still needs work.
It's had a bit of an influx of players and I figured I'd get some Tildes people in on it. It could really use the lot of you.

Xionwalker Space Station 14. It's so good. It's the first game in a while that I've been able to play for more than a couple hours and not then start tapering off in play time, in a while. In short, it's...Space Station 14.
It's so good. It's the first game in a while that I've been able to play for more than a couple hours and not then start tapering off in play time, in a while.
In short, it's Among Us, but a good, well thought out game.
It's a space station disaster simulator role playing game. Like, D&D role play, not Skyrim. You make a character and go about your short time on this station, is the focus. It's a Groundhog Day assumption of progression and each shift(ooc round) is not remembered in the next, but your knowledge of your job is.
There are 5 major departments. Security, science, engineering, cargo and medical.
Security patrols and arrests anyone breaking space law and protects the station from the antongonists as the first line of defense. Although, it does fall on the crew to defend fairly often.
Science researches technology to be used by the station. They also are in charge of containing anomalies that will spawn and wreck havoc on the station, but are often not that big of a deal.
Engineering is in charge of maintaining the power and atmospheric systems on the station and also repairing structure damage.
Cargo is selling and buying goods to make money to keep the departments stocked with the materials they need by fulfilling sales bounties and selling materials the salvage team finds.
Medical is in charge of healing the crew. Various damage types require knowledge of different chems to heal.
There is also the service department, but that it is so diverse, that you can't really concisely sum it up. There are bartenders, mimes, reporters, cyborgs, etc...
All of the major departments have sub departments. The salvage team for cargo, chem for medical, detective and lawyer for sec, etc...
All have a command head over the departments. The Head of Personnel is slight higher than than department command, but also manages service and the captain is at the top.
It's really one big process of learning. Starting at an intern level position and advancing as you gather playtime and experience. Every job feels like the described position without feeling tedious and is REALLY well thought out.
All this this is going on, less and less smoothly, as antagonists continue to throw wrenches into the harmonious plan of maintaining the station.
The main antagonist is the Syndicate, who have sleeper agents amongst the crew, barring command and security. Sometimes starting in their own ship and assaulting the crew more directly, intending to nuke the whole place.
There are others, like the space dragon or spider clan ninja and some more neutral entities, like the rat king or skeleton. Even a pacifist theif.
So, the round starts and everyone is bound by RP law to do as they should. Not doing so is "self antagging" and can get the admins involved to protect the integrity of the session.
The round continues until the Captain determines it's time to evacuate or everyone dies.
Otherwise, it's a big sandbox of do what you want. Rounds are vastly different from each other as there are so many factors that affect how things work, with many more content updates to extend that list.Game play is a bit rough to get started as the controls do a lot of different things, but is fairly intuitive. For instance, if you need a bandage, you can break some glass and use it on some clothing to then craft the bandage.
It's free to sign up for the play test on steam. I highly recommend it, if you like that style or are into sci-fi roleplay.

Whether it's at work or just not holding the door for someone 5 feet behind you.
On top of that, my general rule is that you do you, as long it doesn't hurt anyone. I guess that feeds on the first bit, but that's it.

A second season was recently announced and I got to tracking it down again and managed to and now I have a pretty severe story hangover.
Reading Dai Dark is helping a lot. Hayashida Q. Is a wonderful author and I wish he had more influence in other projects, but I understand why he doesn't. 18 years of Dorohedoro and then Dai Dark as a project passion that really shines through as you read... <3

It looks like fun and I think it's a flexible enough encounter.
The main thing that sticks out to me is that this fight could very easily be cheesed with fireball. You mentioned a magic heavy group and with that in mind, on top of nuking the tentacles, that's 120+(fireball damage) damage to the main body and will trivialize your fight.
If that becomes a thing, I would regenerate tentacles and not let the tentacle damage affect the main body. Stagger the regeneration so that the players will know to focus on the body, but still have to keep the tentacles in mind.

As a fair few have said, it's nice to be prompted to read different articles that are about something you had not known of before.
My main issue with these posts is that there are a fair few of them that require an account to keep track of free articles read and such. It's disappointing to find an article that sounds interesting to be prompted to throw yet another account to keep track of in the mix. I will forget the password and I will essentially have to go through what amounts to same amount of time to reset the password as would be to set up the account. If there were any requirement put on these posts, it's whether or not you'll need an account to read it mentioned in the title somewhere. I just simply don't use any article sites enough to warrant making one.
Granted I'm getting the hang of which ones use cookies and which ones use an account, but I tend to avoid actually reading the article and just gather the key points from the discussion, but that's just me.

I started AC: Mirage. It was something I was a bit hyped for. Mostly because they were finally stepping back from the crappy Horizon zero dawn style RPG model with a loot box type inventory and such... ick. Also because it's finally an AC game that doesn't use the main protagonists tragedy as the personality base. This guy wanted to do assassin things for assassin reasons that further their cause. Not just wrapped up in it to get revenge or what have you.
That being said, it's a decent game, but they still haven't fixed their freerunning mechanics and that gets annoying.4/5

I just need to buy some things and actually do it as a fair bit of the models I end up trying to fold could really benefit from it.
I typically prefer books and diagrams. I'll use videos if necessary, but I'm really not a fan of play/pausing videos every step. You also run into the issue of some of the steps not being as clear as they could be because of lighting or they forget they are doing something without thinking.
Honestly, something like Deviant art would work well for a community. Can have your portfolio and follow others. Maybe show off your progress as you fold new things, make paper, etc...

Hello, everyone!
I've been back into it for a little over a year. I started at an art camp when I was roughly 12 or so. I had someone I saw doing it show me a couple things and I still to this day remember every model he taught me. Unfortunately it didn't advance much further than that for another 16 years or so, but here we are.
There are so many communities out there for it, but I never seem to find one that's terribly active that isn't Reddit. I've found a discord that has some interesting challenges and prompts to stir up some discussions, except they usually are just individual answers. Hopefully I can drum something up here.
Currently I have two projects in the works that I still need to get myself to finish. I'm roughly "half-way" through Satoshi's Bahamut and working on a Saku B Monster Hunter Saltas Queen model that is nearly finished.(Just needs shaped)
So far my proudest is LQD's modular phoenix. (https://imgur.com/a/L527otB) It took me roughly 6 or 7 hours to make and put together, I think. I actually ended up having to fold 3 wings as I forgot to reverse the instructions to make the other. >.>

Maybe something addictive due to additives extracted from certain types of creatures is added? Think Slurm from Futurama and run with the kind of creatures that not only would produce the substance, but what would guard them as well. It could also just be a band of creatures or a clan that has access to addictive substances as it's incredibly easy to transport it in through the many portals of the city.
The business could be very lucrative and highly valuable treasures could be contained within and that would be your players goal.
I hope this helps. I don't want to get to terribly specific as there are a lot of options for creatures of this sort. I had just hoped an idea would help you narrow down your research and find something that fits your taste. If you can't decide on something, I can make some suggestions.

I always end up coming back to "doom scroll" because of the habit of pulling out my phone when I'm bored.
The last time I quit, I had finally realized that the app was preventing me from doing anything even mildly productive. There were loads of other things I could be reading other than memes and annoying discussions. I managed it for a couple weeks. Reading webcomics and articles or books. I found myself convincing myself that it was ok to scroll a little bit and that eventually snowballed into old habits.
Really my "de-Redditing" journey consists of finding other ways to occupy my time and learn that I can occupy my time in more meaningful ways. Even if it's just to waste 30 minutes, I can find something more productive than melting my mind into Reddit. Tildes is really just another major step in that journey as it's something I've been looking for, for a long time. I've really missed this style of forum. A style of forum with a new twist that really seems to care about how the community grows.
Honestly, I tend to think survival crafting games are tedious and grindy, but I really enjoyed Grounded.
It's playable solo and you only need to make one trip for resources most times and it's usually only like 5 minutes. Unless it's rarer for more powerful items, but you don't make many of those.
It's story driven and your crafting progresses throughout the game at a nice pace. Getting upgrades isn't tedious either. It's just as easy as the previous tier, plus you can reinforce weapons as you go.
Really, it does a great job of keeping new stuff flowing as you progress.
