There Will Be Blood. Brilliant acting by Daniel Day Lewis, brilliant directing by Paul Thomas Anderson, and a great story that examines every side of religion, greed, nihilism, and more.

I'm not worried about it, if that's the implication of your post. Literally the entire story of human history has been moving people out of agriculture and into other industries. It used to be that the majority of people had to work in agriculture. Today, less than 2% of Americans work in agriculture. We are better for it, as food is cheaper than ever, and we are free to pursue other things. The future you described just takes that 2% figure and turns it into <1%.

Can't say I have any suggestions for you, unfortunately. I never really explored that genre further after reading it. I discovered it through the Modern Library's 100 Best Nonfiction list.

Great book. Read it a few summers ago. Although I can't really say I remember the plot at all. I think I just fell in love with style of writing and the overall aesthetic of it all more than anything. It's my favorite title of a book ever.

Did you start reading due to Tom Wolfe's death, or just because you've been reading psychedelic literature recently?
