I'm borderline and bipolar. I suffer from severe anhedonia and have constant dark, morbid brain noise. Music, especially metal, is the only thing I have found that consistently makes me feel something and drowns out all the noise in my head. In fact, when I hit a point where I realize I'm not listening to music or able to get into it it's a huge red flag I'm heading into a very bad episode.

I think many Poe stories would fit. The Tell-Tale Heart, The Premature Burial, Fall of the House of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado

A couple weeks ago I started looking around for a pair to use with my Steam Deck. Despite having a fair amount of Apple products I didn't want to spend that much on ear buds so I looked around at other brands a bit. The ones with good reviews and similar features weren't that much lower in price. Then the AirPods popped up for $50 off so I decided to just go for it.

The sound was a lot better than I was expecting - I usually use a DAC and over ear headphones for music - but for something this small and convenient I was impressed. I'd never used ANC either - when I first tried them the room was full of sound from a fan, laptop, the TV in the other room, outside noise... I put them in and activated the ANC and it went almost completely quiet and blew my mind.

Enter the Void (2009): It's just like... a nearly three hour long fever dream drug trip.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998): A shorter drug trip with more action and laughs... take a trip (heh) with a man, his attorney, a suitcase, and some bats.

Fire and Ice (1983): A rotoscoped dark fantasy. Just all kinds of 80s weird rotoscope fun.

Martyrs (Original French Version - 2008): Some would argue it's torture porn.. which I guess I can't fully disagree with that, but it's more than that. I've never watched another movie that made me feel the way Martyrs did when it was over. Strong warning that this movie is heavy.

Pink Floyd – The Wall (1982): Technically a musical, but it's full of all the wonderful psychedelic (at times a bit creepy) weirdness that is peak Pink Floyd.

It's been rainy in my area and it put me into a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds mood. Been jumping between "Your Funeral... My Trial", "Let Love In", "The Boatman's Call", and "No More Shall We Part".

One of my favorite little moments is when Bernard gets a "popsicle" and it's just a frozen bottle of wine with a stick in it and he smashes the bottle off.

Monsters Among Us. It's set up like an old call in radio show where people share their paranormal experiences. I'm science minded and very skeptical but I've always been intrigued by the paranormal. I appreciate that the host will give a logical explanation for the callers experiences, but will also dig up similar experiences from his archive. Not going to lie - sometimes people describe eerily similar experiences that make you go "huh..." I also just enjoy the overall vibe and atmosphere of the podcast - it has become one of my go to media comforts.
