Not sure if there's a cable option, or if the streaming will change next year since Fox acquired the media rights

To me, if Biden pardons people who haven't done anything just to spare them from baseless investigations and harassment, it only legitimizes right-wing conspiracies of criminal behavior.

I don't understand why that makes it hard to feel bad for the guy? His upbringing was obviously traumatic based on this, and outside of being cocky he doesn't seem like a bad person in any way (I've never seen anything to say otherwise, at least)

And frankly, he's earned the right to be cocky (to a degree at least) - he's one of the fastest of all time. Of course, none of that means you have to like the guy. But just because you don't like him, should that mean he doesn't deserve any sympathy?

Another thing to consider is that may just be a method of getting himself in the mindset to perform his best. You need confidence to push yourself to new levels (Bannister effect, for example).

I agree that polymarket doesn't have any more credibility in this scenario. Honestly, I suspect it's slightly more accurate prediction has more to do with bias in the user base than anything.

And that probability isn't useful in this scenario. All it really applies to is predicting the accuracy of the polls since, for all intents and purposes, the outcome of the election is pre-determined by the voters.

Regardless, I know it's a long shot, but I'm really hopeful this amendment will push Florida over the line for Harris. Even in red states, abortion bans are deeply unpopular.

Yeah I have to agree with you. This guy is spewing total garbage.

As a software engineer for a company that has virtually unlimited access to the latest AI tools, I can honestly say it's made very little difference in dev time.

It's nowhere near understanding the complexity and interdependencies of large codebases. All it's good for is spitting out small chunks of code that you have to double check anyway. It won't help you solve any of the difficult problems which end up taking most of the time.

I really don't like this, to be honest. There's already way too much money in politics, and while this isn't really "in" politics in the same way as PACs or "speaking gigs", it still adds another layer of financial stakes that don't consider the best interest of the average citizen.

I don't have any knowledge of the legal arguments for one side or the other, but from a purely ideological perspective, it feels like another straw on the back of democracy.

Totally agree. Nothing irks me more than the fact that paramount has, inarguably, one of the most iconic and impactful cinematic universes ever and does nothing but pump out mediocre generic sci-fi, at best. Or, more frequently, total garbage.

It really feels like whoever is making the decisions behind the scenes has never actually watched anything pre-Abrams Star Trek.

That's still near toss-up range to be fair. Last election, Trump had similar odds in his model and only lost by just over 100k votes combined in the 4 states that ended up deciding the election, despite losing the popular vote by 7 million.

If he hadn't sabotaged his own voters by deciding you shouldn't protect yourself from covid, he very likely could have won.

Not that it matters anymore, since we're in a completely different ballgame with Harris almost certainly the new nominee.

The betting markets didn't predict Biden stepping down. The changes were in response to a massively increasing pressure campaign for Biden to step down.

There's no "prediction" involved - just people seeing the possibility of Biden stepping down as more likely as more and more pressure was mounted by his own party and gambling that it was going to happen.

Betting markets are the wisdom of a very specific subset of crowds. Not very many people place bets on political results, and those that do are not representative of the US population as a whole.

Betting markets can in no way predict the outcome of major political contests, regardless of whether or not experts weigh in. There are far too many unknown variables at play.
