Text adventures! (Infocom/Legend Entertainment/etc) Most playthroughs had me filling up journals with endless notes and maps. They're such a deliciously convoluted bunch of games.

I stumbled upon "The Book" by Alan Watts at the right time in my life and it was a comforting, accessible introduction to some core Vedanta philosophy concepts. It's about the illusion of ego, the interconnectedness of everything, and the necessity of opposites. It has a "stoner" vibe to it that could be off-putting, but that was part of the appeal for me. It felt like getting a soothing life lesson from a cool uncle, and I really needed that.

Funny Games is the sort of technically correct recommendation that could end up costing someone friends in my view. Psychological horror also exists on a scale and that movie rests far above mild. As horror fans we are likely desensitized, but a person who is "not familiar or comfortable with horror or thriller movies" is not going to properly appreciate Haneke's metacommentary and be left with a very disturbing, bleak home invasion/torture movie.

I feel similarly about Reddit, although I still enjoy some of the smaller subs. I guess it was only a matter of time before we lost 3rd party apps and old.reddit, but it's sad to see that process actually underway. I've used RIF for nearly a decade, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what @talklittle is working on for a Tildes app.

It's always nice to meet a fellow horror fan! My favourite has always been The Shining, but lately I've been making my way through the Cronenberg films I've missed (like Scanners) and my love for his work is only growing. I'll watch just about anything I can get my hands on though, and I'd love to check out any recommendations you have. As for a niche interest, I suppose it's not so niche anymore, but I collect tarot cards and enjoy stumbling upon interesting decks and discussing the art. I don't see them as magical, but I find them really calming as a mindful exercise.
