Thanks for the suggestion! Merida bikes are pretty easy to get in NZ, so I'll have a look and see if I can go try one out at a local store.

I've always been fairly into cycling (MTB), but I've been commuting by bike recently and that's been getting me into road cycling. Got plans to buy a proper road bike soon! Any suggestions?...

Exercise wise; while it's not as intense as running, it puts so much less stress on your knees - which I like. And of course, it's the most efficient form of transport!

I've bought Wizard of Legend. It's a magic-based rogue-like, but the best part is that it's got couch co-op! I've played about 10 hours with my brother of the past two days. Heaps of fun!

Do these students regularly use PCs, or are they using iPads? I can't imagine anyone using a PC and not having a basic understanding of file systems, URLs and typing. Also, what's happened to the nerds? When I was at school there was always a small group in class that would be messing around with the command line etc.

I'm looking to upgrade to a 27" 4k monitor at some point, but I'm pretty happy with my current 25" 1440p Dell.

The combat is pretty fun, you can either attack (selecting how much damage you'd do based on your stamina) or defend, taking 1 hp of damage if the enemy attacks. If you do die you basically have the option to re-try the fight almost immediately. The fighting can get quite strategic, I like it.
There is also more text for every attack you do, which sometimes reveals a weakness in the enemy.

Not 100% sure if this is what you're looking for, but give Sorcery! a try. It's a text-based adventure game (with some visuals).

I'd definitely recommend To The Moon and it's sequel, Finding Paradise. They are about 4 hours each and are heavily story focused. The ideal way to play them is in one session. Both can be run on absolute toasters - but they still look good!

To The Moon is probably my favourite game ever. Kan Gao is a master at story-telling and the script is excellent too.

    Here's a list:

    • Limbo. 2D platformer. Story based.
    • Mini Metro. Minimalist puzzle game about construction train stations.
    • Papers Please. Allow or prevent people from entering/leaving the great land of Arstoska.
    • Poly Bridge. Puzzle game. The objective is to build a bridge that can support a vehicle to drive over it.
    • Risk of Rain. Action platformer w/ roguelike elements.
    • Sorcery!. A classic text-based adventure.
    • Stardew Valley. RPG farming game. Super relaxing to play.
    • Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005). FPS based in the Star Wars universe. This game is my childhood.
    • Super Meat Boy. Challenging platformer.
    • Celeste. Challenging platformer. Like Super Meat Boy, but better IMO. Tight controls, great soundtrack, and a solid story.

Hopefully, some of those pique your interest! Also, could you post your specs? There were quite a few games that I didn't include (Transistor, Terraria etc) because I wasn't that sure if you'd be able to run them.

    To find your specs:
Windows key -> Settings -> System -> About. Just post the "Processor" and "Installed RAM".

    Headphones:

    • Sennheiser HD600. I wear these 8-10 hours a day sometimes. Pretty much set the baseline for me - comfortable, sound decent and have held up well so far. I've had thousands of hours of listening put into these, and the still satisfy.

    • Audio-Technica ATH-M50. My first 'real' headphones. Going back to these, I just hate them; I gave them to a family member because I'll never use them again. In my opinion, they sound worse than my $10 Panasonic IEMs. I have no idea why these are recommended so much. The HD589s are so much better for the price.

    Speakers:

    • Monitor Audio Bronze 2s. Man, these blow me away every time I listen to them! So much better than the HD600s (not really a fair comparison, I know). The look great as well!

    Equipment:

    • Sansui AU-D33. Decent amp, does the job powering the MA B2s.
    • Monoprice desktop amp/DAC. Again, decent and has no problem powering the 300Ω HD600s.

    Timeline:
    M50s -> HD600s -> Bronze 2s.

I might have a look into getting some decent closed backs in the future (Oppo PM-3s?), but for now, I'm happy with my current setup.

I'm extremely jealous you got to see him live! That must've been incredible. I'll try breaking Lenny down more piece by piece. I'm not really sure of my skill level, at one point I thought I was an intermediate player, but I now realise I'm much closer to the beginner end of the spectrum! I don't know anything about modal notes etc.

Thanks for the suggestion of Shutup & Play, I'm watching his videos now (there goes my weekend). It's hard to find tutorials that get the note for note accuracy.

I've recently got a new guitar amplifier, so I've been having lots of fun with that - finally had a chance to crank it this weekend. I'm attempting to learn Lenny by SRV. It's not going well. His phrasing is immaculate and challenging to replicate.

I feel like I'm at this weird stage where something I want to learn is either extremely difficult (Lenny, Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 solo), or possible to learn in 10 minutes (Everytime by Boy Pablo, Darling by Real Estate) with no middle ground. Any suggestions?

Looks like it is before YouTube made a native darkmode (it's got the old design), so yeah, you'll have to use a 3rd party extension.

Jack Garratt's voice sounds so good! It contrasts nicely with the synth/bass. I think Silas is my favourite song you've suggested. Acoustic guitar + haunting vocals = <3.

Here's some songs that I like:
    SunSquabi - Cinnamon
Lucy Rose - All That Fear
Patrick Watson - Turn Into The Noise

Another could be "archiving" the account, so all posts are still visible with/without the username attached, but the account can no longer post (maybe add a tag to the username, or grey it out to indicate that user is archived).
