there’s a bit at the beginning of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show on Netflix where Migos comes out and performs in this shallow little pool and I swear it’s the funniest shit EVER. They’re just rapping, doing their thing and dancing around this small pool and their ankles and shoes are getting visibly wet. There’s this one shot of the three of them, just their feet actually doing this little two-step jig in unison, just splashing and getting water all over and... for some reason it just had me dying lmao. It was lame but somehow endearing at the same time? Hahahaha it was funny asf.

DR. STONE! It's a post-apocalyptic survivalist anime. The earth's population is turned to stone, and after thousands of years two survivors -- two high school boys, one a muscle head and the other basically a young Rick Sanchez -- have to essentially re-build society and re-invent everything from scratch. Maybe it's only because I'm into the self-sustainability thing in general, but I love this show! The pacing and animation are already stellar. I read the first volume of the manga last year and they're definitely doing it justice with the premiere episode that aired last Friday! It's gonna be a two-cour with 24 episodes as well. I'm 10 billion percent certain it'll be a hit this season. 😸

My boys Two Door Cinema Club also released their fourth album, and having been a listener since Tourist History I have to say it's nice to find such a consistent indie rock kit whose sound is just as powerful and minty fresh as years past, if not being even more refined now. Big ups to Alex, Sam, and Kevin for this one.

I still have to get around to listening to the new Raconteurs and Hot Chip but maybe this weekend. Spoiled af 🙌

I just started reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and it's cool so far! I believe the root of true stoicism lies in cultivating a "this too shall pass" attitude toward mostly everything, and although I think passivity in the face of adversity is a commendable virtue, I can't get behind the other side of the coin, passivity in the face of prosperity. I wanna feel things and jump up and down and get excited, and darn it, sometimes I wanna cry too! But that's the cool thing about philosophy, you can apply the positive elements to yourself and your life and if you don't feel like it you don't have to be another Seneca the Younger. It's a valuable philosophy though with a lot to teach you about yourself and your mindset.

Although I haven't read it myself my friend told me that The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson does a good job of imparting wisdom with stoicism as the underlying foundation, so that might be a good introduction. I'm not big on the whole Fuck, Shit, Fucking self-help literary movement but my friend liked the book and its reputation speaks for itself. Also, you can't go wrong with the classics such as Meditations or the Enchiridion.

One-Punch Man! The web comic and the manga, not the anime, although that premiered earlier today on Hulu, apparently. The illustrator of the manga adaption, Yusuke Murata, recently released the glorious Chapter 106, which has everything - Saitama, a good portion of the S-Class, reaction faces, Genos doing dishes. On top of that, the original web comic artist ONE released Chapter 110 just yesterday or the day before, the last chapter of which was released over two years ago. That's craaaaazy. Say what you will about OPM, but it's just the sort of entertaining, whimsical non-story that you want to curl up with on your phone and binge sometimes.

I legitimately enjoy it. But maybe because I'm an avid listener of hip hop in general. My favorite part is Billy's verse tho.
