It definitely is a game about enjoying the journey, and if it didn't click with you I can understand the frustration. I played with kb+m and didn't find any issues personally.

This game is not talked about a lot, despite the generally very positive feedback of the game, because telling you too much about the game would ruin your enjoyment of it. But I can confidently say that the game is incredibly unique and not like most games out there.
In short, you play as a young astronaut who gets to explore the solar system. The game is primarily about exploration, learning, and puzzles. It tells a great story that I would not want to spoil for you in any way.
If you like space, single player exploration, great stories, and puzzles, check it out. It also has an amazing soundtrack.
Here is a link to one of the trailers which is spoiler-free.

Comment on Toyota’s bet on hybrids was mocked, then vindicated. Now it’s trying to repeat the trick with an unlikely bet on the combustion engine. in ~transport

This is the same Toyota that played a part in changing initial perceptions of poor quality in Japanese cars.
The same Toyota that brought us the Prius.
The same Toyota that companies try to imitate in management philosophy, being lean, promoting continuous improvement (kaizen).
They have always been, and continue to show that they have a focus in the long term, and that’s why they are the best automaker in my opinion.
On top of that they have rejuvenated a lot of the enthusiast offerings. Their previous CEO Akio Toyoda took on a pseudonym and participated in professional motorsports. I think all the fun stuff they released in recent years are in part reflection of his enthusiasm.

One of the big hurdles is access to some Windows only software, including games. Has the landscape changed for games, or is it still mostly limited to Emulation via Wine if the game doesn't support Linux natively?
The several times that I have tried to use Linux on my computer, I would end up finding some weird quirk or bug that would need me to be versed in Linux to actually debug and fix it.
Are there any resources to help Windows users transition? I'm interested in tech but my Linux knowledge is limited, and it can be frustrating when you have to actively program/adjust things to get things going in Linux. I understand that it mostly works out of the box, but there is always that one little thing that requires extra configuration.

It pulled me in and made me want to explore and gather things to progress. The game had great atmosphere and several iconic creepy moments. But the culmination of everything was.... underwhelming.
I learned that there was lots of to post game, and many more secrets to find. I looked up the secrets and what further story or meaning it would reveal, and unfortunately the answer is not much. The added problem is that the deeper secrets are so far a stretch that they would be quite difficult for a person to solve naturally. One of such puzzles requires 50 separate players combining information to solve. Maybe that's interesting for some people, but not for me. At the end of all the secrets, I would agree that the understanding of the world doesn't really change from your early impressions.
The game was introduced as a comparison to Outer Wilds for me, and I have to say that couldn't be further from the truth. Animal Well is more of a metroid-like with a focus on platforming and puzzles. Without spoiling anything, Outer Wilds is a game about exploration. At the end, everything you learn gives context to the overall story of the game, which Animal Well does not.
Yeah that’s fair. Now that I think about it again I had my fair share of falling into a certain planet.
I promise that no matter what frustrates you or gives you trouble, the pay off at the end is totally worth it. Good luck!
