I think deep down you usually know what the answer is, you know what you want to do, but your overanalyzing prevents the answer from being able to present itself.

I'll sometimes just flip a coin, and just before I look to see how it landed, how I really feel about the question is revealed. A split-second feeling bubbles up from my subconscious that says basically "I hope it's x".

This article came out today, it is worrying,

if Biden has a “senior moment” at the wrong time it could be a disaster, a deciding factor for a lot of people who think Biden is slipping.

I know this is a thread about reading, but Project Hail Mary as a book was a 6/10, but the audiobook (narrated by Ray Porter) was probably the best I’ve ever listened to, an easy 10/10.

I went I see Napoleon yesterday. The theatre subjected us to over 12 minutes of commercials before the previews started.

The guys next to me started making “pffft.. jeezus!” noises around the 5 minute mark. Which was actually kind of funny and almost canceled out my own growing annoyance.

I don’t remember seeing more than a few minutes of ads before a movie, I don’t know if this was a special one time test thing or if it’s the new normal?

I sort of assume that hackers can gain access to all of my information and data if they want to.

My main safeguard against this is that I’m basically a ghost online, in that my real name doesn’t appear anywhere. I don’t do social media with my real name and haven’t for over ten years, i use an email address that can’t lead to my real name.. etc.

Is this realistic? Like if hackers never know who I am then they won’t start to try to hack into whatever? How do they choose a victim out of the billions of people on a list?

I changed careers and sold my car awhile ago and I now work three days a week. I got rid of my tv and my computer and I now read a real book or go for a walk without my phone. I do breath meditation for at least two hours a day, and I can feel all the craziness and anxiety just bubble up and dissolve.

I’m actually peaceful and happy for the first time in decades. There was a bit of a desert to cross at first, I craved cheap dopamine based entertainment for a day or two, but then it was gone and I don’t want to go back to that life of distraction and sadness. All the news and Netflix binge watching etc just made me miserable.

Especially a Christopher Nolan movie, I want to see it fresh, with a clear mind, with space before and afterwards to let it ripen.

I used to watch Man vs Food, I think it was called. Some big dude named Adam would eat a ten pound cheeseburger while the restaurant’s patrons cheered him on. You could see his face go grey as his arteries thought of mutiny.

One of the big things I get out of these shows is a sense of how lucky I am, sitting in a comfy chair watching pointless gluttony, while people in other countries are starving or being bombed.

If I wanted to I could walk down the street and eat a delicious meal that would feed a ukrainian family for a week, and all I have to do is pull a piece of plastic from my wallet and hold it near the thing until i hear a ‘bwerp’.
