Even in the trailer I loved the implied mood of Midsommar. Daylight is thankfully easing it's way into Horror and I'm all for it.

This is exactly what I've heard about this. I don't know what the remake was smoking but I'd sure like some of it if that's what came out of it.

My wife specifically doesn't want to watch The Thing since I made the mistake of watching the prequel first with her. But for me it's certainly on my list. It's such a classic not only in horror but just insanely good storytelling on general. So many movies have endings and plots spelled out to you, but to this day you still are not sure who was infected at the end.

I'll definitely add the others to the list. It's been so long with Devil's Advocate that I honestly don't remember anything from it, so it's perfect for a fresh watch!

We did watch Nope, the most unnerving part to my wife was when OJ was in the barn by himself and the kids were creeping on him with the alien costumes! I absolutely loved that entire bit.

Ooo, I'm saving this list! The Birds is so good. The novel delves deeper than the movie, but still a great adaptation.

Happy Death Day and it's sequel are already on my list, especially since there doesn't appear to be overt nudity / sex and the language is mild.
I suppose it could be described as PG-13 horror, but even the Scream series is actually kinda mild on the gore/violence side of you really break it down, as they have a whodunit plot more than a "let's douse the protags in blood" vibe.

Oh and of course Tremors is always on every list of all time great movies.

A fellow FF9 fan? Here, on the internet? I played the everloving crap out of that game around 2004 and I still hold it dearly in my heart to this day. It's easy to say "no one ever talks about (random older game)" but whenever Final Fantasy comes up I barely see any talk of it. There's a tone and setting to that game that I haven't seen in any other FF game or RPG for that matter.

I have a feeling we won't see that in this movie. Both Wilder and Depp gave Wonka a controlling and almost malicious personality to him. With Wilder, you wonder if he's nearly a villain until late into the movie. Depp came from rejection of his father, and both desired an heir that fit their idea of themselves at that age. This just doesn't strike me as a movie that will go that deep.
It's kinda of funny that we're getting a backstory that wants to wash away the history of a fictional character.

I would hasten to add that Babish (and Joshua Weissman, I can't comment on the others) do have editors and writers for their content. I have always gotten the impression though that both of their operations are not nearly big or complex enough that they do not examine and read through scripts, especially since both of them do voice-over for most of the actual preparation steps.
It did strike me as very odd that Babish did not sufficiently address the point the movie was trying to drive home. I'm not a chef (and apparently neither is Babish) and it was pretty obvious what it wanted to say. I do wonder if it was during a very busy period or something, where he wasn't able to dedicate enough time to it.
Then again, there's another video where he wanted to source cocoa from it's, well, source in Ecuador (he's trying to make chocolate from scratch from SpongeBob). He spends a chunk of the video going there, farming it, learning how to turn it into a useable chocolate... Only to find out he can't bring it back to the US with him, so he ends up using cocoa beans he bought online. It feels weirdly tone-deaf and just odd as the video is a celebration of 10 million subscribers, but he clearly just wasted a bunch of money to learn something he could probably learn locally using ingredients he ended up leaving at his hotel. So there's a part of me that thinks maybe he did just niss the point of it all.
