That starch is actually better for you though, although I don't disagree that fresh rice is better tasting. The cooled starches are called resistant starch and they act more like fiber.

Regardless, to each their own and the users who are happy here can continue to b happy and and the users who are happy there can be happy there. It's a big world and a big internet, we don't all have to play in the same sandbox.

The best success I've had with losing weight then keeping it off was to completely forsake counting calories and instead focus on eating healthy. My health insurance gave me access to a program called Omada which is where I first came across this as a method for weight loss, but I really don't think a program is necessary to be successful with it. I let myself eat unhealthy here and there, and I think everyone should because it can be good for your mental health, but focusing on healthy food has been effective for me. I'm not quite as thin as I might like to be but I'm definitely healthier than I would be if I were 10 lbs lighter but eating processed food with every meal. It can be more expensive to eat healthy which is really unfortunate for people on a limited income.

At this point I meal prep my workday dinners on Sunday, eat yogurt with fruit for breakfast, a big bowl of veggies with some hummus is often lunch, then I'll have a small healthy snack later. You don't need to count calories when you eat a big pile o' vegetables and if you focus entirely on finding foods you're happy with that are good for you, you're treating your body well and you'll see benefits even if you don't drop a bunch of weight right off the bat. When you do want to have a piece of cake or whatever, go for it because totally denying it can lead to issues. You just need to be good to yourself and eat less, and experiment with eating more slowly and savoring it more so you can be satisfied with less.

I created and moderate a small, very niche subreddit and desperately want to move it but support from the users has been limited. They just don't really seem interested. At this point that's the only thing I log on Reddit to look at and I don't have to do any active moderation anyways because our users are all very well behaved. I want to open a community on the fediverse but I'll get maybe 6 of our reddit users to join and the rest will keep using what they're using. They're very creative and fun so I can't bring myself to just stop looking at it.

I usually eat plain yogurt with some kind of fruit, and I vary the fruit each week so I don't get tired of it. In winter sometimes I'll eat oatmeal instead. I recently discovered that savory oatmeal is really good. I had only had sweet before but adding something simple like salt, pepper and sage turnes out to be really good and I felt like I stayed full longer, probably because it didn't spike my blood sugar the same way.

I love my steam deck but pretty much never use it as a handheld. It's basically a compact PC with a convenient dock that works as well as my laptop but is easier to display on the TV so I can relax without having the laptop on my lap or sitting at a desk. There are a few issues to using it this way and one of the biggest ones for me is lack of true keyboard and mouse support, even for games that were originally made for that format. I don't know what it actually thinks it's doing when you select keyboard and mouse but for a lot of games it doesn't give you the configuration you would get on a laptop and it often has the wrong inputs displayed (like it will say A but the actual keybinding is E). Anyways I digress, that a pretty minor issue for a great product and the price is very good for what it can do.

They're still releasing free, major updates to No Man's Sky. They really deserved what they got at launch but they very much made up for it.
