A small 8 foot patch would probably be fine, but astroturfing a lawn is usually frowned upon in large amounts. Plastic particles will slowly make their way into the ground and ground water. There are some communities and counties banning the use of astroturf over say local grass/clover/wildflower or gravel.

Not terribly hard but the amount you need to water that grass to get it started is staggering. Sod usually requires a heavy water cycle for a month or more to get it established.

Your reply makes the idea seem impossible, but I wonder if automation and other efforts could curb skyrocketing costs as a whole. Like you mentioned some things might be dirt cheap and others more expensive, I wonder if the net family budget will resist inflation for the majority of the world with these new tools in place.

The mental health thing is for sure beneficial, I love having plants in the house. The air purification claim is not something I have found to be verifiable. I really want to be because that means I can justify more plants. If anyone has any scientific sources on actual effective air purification I would love to read them.

Yeah there are some good options for settings on the Rheem, I have it on the Energy Efficient setting. Before adding this I didn't hear my basement, and it stayed around 60F, after installing it's usually 8F lower all year around.

In a couple years I'm probably going to move it to the other side of the house in the utility area, which is under the bathrooms. This way I don't need the circulator pump.

Not shocked at all that they did this. I'm still dumbfounded by the lack of accountability there is for the meat industry and their emissions.

I installed one of these to replace an oil fired tank a couple years ago. I love it a lot, I do have a couple issues but it's probably just my high use application. My unit is on the opposite corner of the house from my bathrooms, so I have a circulator pump in between. Honestly it has been pretty expensive to run but still cheaper than oil. I have this installed in my basement in New England, finished basement. It actually makes my basement pretty cold all year round, something to consider if it's in a closet near a living space.

    I believe I have the Rheem 80gal 220.

One thing I will say is there are some 110 models out there now that will make it very easy to install in an area where a gas or oil heater currently exists, this drops the barrier to install and cost a ton.

Side comment on drama podcasts: I started listening to Limetown a couple years ago without knowing it was fictional. Boy was I freaked out when listening to it. The only reason I found out that it wasnt real was that I thought to myself "why isn't anyone talking about this?!?" Had to look it up after that. A real War of the Worlds moment for me.

We live in NH at the interstate junction that goes to VT, we have never seen so much traffic in our town. 8k people in our town and no traffic lights. It was unreal.

Some interesting friction in here on using any Chat bots. I basically use it randomly through out the day as an assistant. It starts research on topics for me, helps with a coding problem, gets me outlines for creating a new committee, and so much more. I take everything as a starting point and go from there. I have a hard time getting started sometimes and having GPT get the conversation going helps me a lot.
