There was always a difference between Ed's songs and Steven's songs. I think the contrast of the two, paired with the songs that combined their voices and styles made the old albums really unique. After Steven left they really lack that second voice. I don't just mean as in his vocals, but the second ingredient that flavored their music. It all sounds very samey now. It's a weird sound too. It's like the songs were written for a pop country artist, and then given to BNL. It has retail store muzak vibes.
Steven Page has done some solo albums, and he's also part of the Trans Canada Highwaymen. I prefer his solo stuff, but don't hate the Highwaymen. It feels like he's trying to stick truer to the old BNL vibes.
I definitely prefer his solo career to that of the Post-Page BNL stuff, but I'm biased. I've always liked his songs better than Ed's songs.
I'm 30 now.. So I figure I'm in prime position to be a middle aged guy showing up to the eventual reunion tour in another decade.

The backing track was Gladys Knight so I was all sorts of sold on this.
When I did the grocery pick up Saturday I was looking at pork and fuck man.. Meat is expensive. Ribs are out, pork butts out.. But there was a 'Boneless pork half loin' for $1.99/lb.. I said Yolo can bought two. I was expecting them to be small but here I was with these two fucking pork logs. I cut one into thirds and threw it the freezer, and the other one I cut into TEN thicc pork chops. Really pork steaks.. I seared six of them in my dutch oven with a little olive oil, and froze the other 4. I might just cook those as pork chops. Do they still make shake and bake?
But I browned up six, three at a time because I couldn't lay all of them in there flat. Then I did my veg, with some wine, some stock, and some garlic. Popped the pork back in and put it in the oven at 300° for 3.5 hours.
It smelled great. When I pulled it out the liquid had reduced a lot more than I expected so I added a little more stock and shredded the pork. It was great over mashed potatoes, and made a nice lunch reheated today.

These two factions waged war for decades. Caught in the middle of this strife was the largely neutral nation Anhelm, who sits to the east of these two giants.
Even though they suffered the collateral damage of war waging along side of, and sometimes spilling into their territory, they gained vast wealth by trading to each of the other factions. This wealth was used to build up fortifications of their own to ensure that whichever faction won wouldn't be able to turn their attention to Anhelm next.
Bhal Ugron was largely beaten back to their borders but it's hard to call RorSkel a 'winner' in the conflict. After suffering major casualties and racking up substantial debt to Anhelm they may have defeated the Orcs and captured new lands, but the bills were coming due.
During this time a religious uprising swept through Anhelm like a virus. A man many view as a prophet worked his way up through government and is largely accredited with making the decisions that led to Anhelm's great fortune, and his God was to thank for the inspiration. After being ordained into the highest position in the kingdom he capitalized on RorSkel's tight position, offering to buy up large swathes of their hard fought for land. With the money they owed, and Anhelm's large standing fortifications and new holy army, they weren't in a very powerful bargaining position.
Anhelm is now the dominant world power, and funds countless missions throughout the lands. While they don't appear to be threatening their neighbors militarily, it's obvious they're trying to take over the world through faith.

There's a popular trend on Reddit at the moment that they're struggling to engage with. The idea is that someone will post the question
"Ask me anything about my world"
And this does two things. It gives them an opportunity to show off their setting, and more importantly it gives them a prompt. Someone may ask a question you don't have an answer to, so you're supposed to come up with one. Doing this enough will help you flesh out your world in ways you may not have considered on your own.
I think the reason this is failing on Reddit is because there are a dozen people jumping on the bandwagon and filling the RPG subs with spam, which is causing other members to lash out at them out of fatigue.
I think we here on Tildes could probably handle it a little better, and it would be better served as a single thread. Top level comments are for asking questions, and then anyone is welcome to reply to those with their answers. By sharing the same pool of questions this will allow us to compare and contrast our worlds with our friends here and maybe help spur on the creative juices.

I've been dabbling more with trying to put together some Dimir Faerie action.
As far as EDH goes my favorite deck is Izzet D20 tribal. It's not a good deck.. I've never won with it.. But it's a lot of fun, and the table always tends to enjoy playing against it. You never know what kind of shit is going to happen.
Just an aside, none of you happen to live in SE Michigan and are looking for another member for your pod are you? I moved here this year and haven't really loved the LGS experience.

This is definitely something I'd listen to. I've always liked both punk and pop-punk. My formative years were heavily influenced by bands like Operation Ivy, Rancid, Social Distortion, and poppier stuff like early GreenDay, Blink 182..
After highschool in the early 2010's I went to a lot of shows and saw some great punk, or maybe punk adjacent (Garage Rock? Noise Rock?) bands like Japandroids (Fellow Canadians like PUP), FIDLAR, Skaters, The Orwells,..
So PUP showing up in my feed wasn't surprising but certainly welcome.
The standout track for me is DVP. The transition from the opening track right into the action is a lot of fun, and has the feel of attending a live show.

I also happened to find the forum literally during it's founding, and joined in just the first week or so of it's launch.
One day I found the stats page and found out I was only a dozen or so comments/posts shy of being in the top 5 most active users, so I found myself purposefully posting more and more to get on the list.
But all this is to say I'm in the same boat as you. Back then I paid attention to posters and commenters. There was a actual sense of community that was really cool. We talked not just about yoyos, yoyoing, and tricks and events, but we chatted about each other's lives. I remember mentioning in an off topic thread that I was going to a marching band competition the coming weekend, and someone PM'd me the next week and asked how it went.
There was even a small movement a few years into the site's life where a lot of us changed our screen names to just our IRL First Names, which added to the sense of community.
This largely went away when I migrated to Reddit. I don't know if the amount of users made it harder to keep track, or perhaps the abundance of throw-away accounts? Or perhaps it's just that I've gotten older and no longer feel the need to supplement my friend circle with internet strangers.

After a fun little one-shot the team wants to keep playing so I need some sort of core conflict.
I've been trying to come up with a villain, and a motivation for that villain but I keep finding myself running into tropes I don't really have a desire to replicate.
Have you written up the suicide note? I'm curious as to what details the players know compared to what you've shared with us.

It mentions that Millennials and Zoomers are the two "Natively Online" generations, the only two generations that grew up with this technology available from a young age. Millennials are less likely to fall for these scams though.
I wonder if it's more because of our parents. Born in 92, I had access to the internet very early on, but colored through the lens of my parents. They were still very cautious about it.
I also remember Cartoon Network having ads for their website and saying "Get your parents permission to check out CartoonNetwork.com!" and then I actually did it. 'Hey mom, can I go print off Courage the Cowardly dog coloring book pages from the internet?'
They were also very fearful about putting any personal information onto the web. I remember sitting with my mom, birthday money in hand, in cash, and asking her if I could give it to her in exchange for her purchasing something for me off the internet. In the mid 2000's. She was skeptical as hell.
What I'm getting at, is I wonder if parents of Zoomers, being younger themselves, and being better versed in technology and the internet than the older parents of millennials had a more laissez-faire attitude and didn't cultivate a level of skepticism in this younger generation.

The very first mission after getting the ship, where you deal with some pirates left me encumbered from looting trash.
Then I talked the pirates out of fighting, and then killed them anyway.
I just joined the server two nights ago, and went exploring. TildeTown proper was a little tight for me, but then I found your rail-line yesterday and made my way out into the desert. I think I'm going to settle out there like an ol' timey Frontiersman.
Great work you did on the station. If you need help digging any of the expansions let me know
