Comment on Linux mini computers in ~comp
redhotkurt That's what I thought of when I read this post. A mini pc ticks all the boxes. They're great, I used one as a Plex server for a few years and now Jellyfin. Good with Windows on it, great with Linux. There's a form factor called the 'Mini PC', which includes Intel NUCs and 1-litre PCs, which are tiny little machines, with laptop CPUs, that are very power efficient and also very cheap to buy.

When you say you "don't even what's out there," is part of the issue not knowing what all the different programming languages can do? Maybe this might help you: https://www.futurelearn.com/info/blog/what-are-different-programming-languages-used-for
Your pragmatism is what's throwing people off, because to us programmers, what you intend to do does not sound pragmatic to us at all. Learning a programming language as a career backup is not as easy or quick as you might think; it's really rare for people to go that route and actually pull it off. They're taking the ultra-practical route by asking you what you want to build not to deter you, but to ensure (hopefully) that you won't hate that first language you try...and quit out of frustration. Because that does happen, and it's a cryin shame.
That said, do you have interest in web development? This very web app you're using right now, tildes.net, was written in Python. You can also create web apps with Javascript, which is super heavily used these days. If you're interested in game development, most AAA title game engines are created with C++ or C#. Also Python or Javascript in some cases. Some languages are pretty versatile.
My point is, maybe think of something you like and ask yourself if you wanna learn how to build/work on something like that. -

You can find older content on usenet, though it largely depends on several variables like your provider(s) retention policy, the show's popularity, amount of times an episode's been posted, whether or not the provider has been dmca'd for those posts, etc. I'm thinking specifically about tv, but this applies to movies as well.

I'm kind of an older graphic designer-turned web designer-turned "web/IT guy" who is now in sort of a junior web developer role, where I know enough php to be dangerous but don't have a good enough understanding of how things work to really call myself a web developer. I guess I'm just kinda feeling the pressures of midlife obsolescence creeping up on me, and jeez, it feels good to finally admit that out loud. Frick. Yeah, it's like I know I have to adapt if I want to survive, but it's do damn hard to get excited about that, you know?
Dammit, I can't figure it out. I give up. I committed everything I had to the feature branch and tagged our ui/ux dev for help. The dude is like two decades younger than me. Everything works except this one glitch, I got the entire feature enhancement finished on my own except this one little thing. Fuck, I hate this.
The reddig design was yours? I remember that April Fools day joke, it was not too long after I joined. Nice!
