"Bullseyein' danger, I'm a surgeon at seventy yards
As long as the target is not a Snellen chart"

As a long-time fan of Aes, this my favourite line on this album. I didn't know what a Snellen chart was, but as soon as I heard it I thought "I bet that's the correct name for the chart at the eye doctor." Classic.

He also seems like he's in a better head space on this album, but maybe I'm just projecting.

The "California style veggie burgers" from Costco. They refuse to stay together on a bun, so I've been folding them in a tortilla, ala cruchwrap supreme, and then grilling it shut. This keeps everything stable and has the bonus of grilled tortilla being delicious.

Some of the vacuum sealed Indian food from the grocery store is vegan, but you need to check the labels. Just heat a pouch and dump it in a bowl with some rice, and optionally add cilantro and green onions to freshen it up.

As someone also doing a (first, half) marathon around the same time next year, what's your training plan? Do you live in a place where running through winter is possible?

I started playing ultimate frisbee this summer as a 37 year old dude and it has been so fun. It feels like I'm getting a little better each week, but I'm still making plenty of mistakes. Thankfully, my team is very chill and us losing every game doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Trying to get better at ultimate has also been motivation to start running and be healthier in general. I feel like I had a similar motivation when I was racing bikes pre-covid, but once races started getting cancelled it was easy to have an extra beer or two. Then I started playing disc golf, which isn't as physically demanding but has a similar time commitment, so I continued to ignore cycling.

Anyway, if anyone is in a similar boat and looking for a chill team sport I would definitely suggest giving ultimate frisbee a try.

If you enjoy Pete & Bas, it would also be worth checking out The Northern Boys. They have a goofier take on the same formula, and also release music through SindhuWorld.

My wife and I went vegetarian about 5 years ago, and we've been making Kenji's Vegan Dan Dan Noodles roughly once a week since then. Not being ok with mushrooms means that recipe is out as written, but you could try substituting for beyond meat or textured vegetable protein.

Also from Kenji, the Tofu Banh Mi and Potato Pan Pizza are very good, but less of a weeknight meal.

The biggest change we noticed when giving up meat was the shift in the way we cooked and meal planned. Before, we picked a protein and then matched some sides to it. Without a main protein, we ended up making a lot more one-pot meals and curries. This was a little stressful for the first few weeks while we figured out our go-to meals, but it's second nature now.

Wristwatch Revival - Servicing and repairing watches. I like to put these on sometimes while working. The vibe is super chill.

Summoning Salt - Documentary style histories of speed runs.

Lock Picking Lawyer - Learn to never trust Master Lock.
