I noticed a paradox: I fall asleep when I don't focus on falling asleep. And I have a simple method that I don't think has ever failed me before.

I look at a fixed spot (a specific point on the wall, the corner of an object, etc.) keeping a soft, relaxed focus. My eyes will try to move and, every time, I gently refocus on that spot—over, and over, and over again. Doesn't matter how many times: I'll keep doing it, without worrying too much about the method's effectiveness.

Boredom and repetition are great facilitators when you try to shut off the brain.

I'm the biggest fan of $10 supima cotton shirts at Uniqlo, and a bunch of other things (underwear, socks—not the same brand, but all unbranded). When something is the right item/tool for you (doesn't have to be the absolute best) you can opt to avoid investing further mental energies in a constant reevaluation. No need to look for Steve Job's uniform either, others will share a similar approach:

“You’ll see I wear only gray or blue suits. I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.”

I've been going through all those suggestions during the past couple days and I am preparing some on my own: I'm especially fond of smaller personal blogs—they're harder to find, but sometimes really worth it (almost like comments and feedback on Tildes).

Thanks! I tried a search engine on Mozz, but seems hard to find good/regular blogs with no specific direction. Anything you’d recommend to check out?

I limited the intake of high volume news and I'm currently taking a break from social media. I've been enjoying to occasionally visit blogs directly as my source of online reading. I tend to enjoy short essays, opinions, and honest observations. What blogs have you been following lately that you think are worth taking a look at?

    P.s.
If it's your own, please shoot me a direct message: I'd love to check it out.

Thanks for sharing the reasons, @deimos. I'll keep it in mind for the future—it was a bit of a quirk compared to the usual (which is more expanded or linked). Thank you.

Feedback here is honest, thoughtful, constructive. This is one of the few places that remind me of the constructive and supportive web I grew up with. I'm just happy projects like Tildes exist....
