I just fired up Forza Horizon 4 after a bit of a break, since I was longing to play a racing game again. I just love everything about this game, and it has pretty good longevity. I've been blasting around the Lego world too, as I wasn't even aware of it until recently. The one thing I'd like is some kind of incentive/mechanism to dig into my giant catalogue of cars that I've never driven, instead of picking my few favourites.

I've fallen off The Outer Worlds a little bit. I like the writing, but the gameplay just feels quite shallow. I started Divinity: Original Sin again instead, a game I didn't get very far through the first time but seems like a much deeper RPG that I might enjoy.

I got a digital thermometer before I'd heard about Thermopen(?). It takes so long to read/update the temperature that I just don't bother.

It's worth noting that Zachtronics treats Early Access as more of a QA for puzzle balance than anything. The game, in most other respects, is "finished".

I'm not quite that far, but I have found that the fights seem pretty meaningless and uninteresting. It's pretty easy to see bunches of enemies from far away and just go around them.

I sprinted past every fight I could on the last planet so I didn't have to deal with it

Are you saying that the gameplay itself isn't particularly good? I've heard this criticism in a few other places

besides the atmosphere and environment, I'm really not enjoying RDR2

I really loved it! Cool premise, pretty neat story in my opinion, good visuals. And perhaps importantly for these days, relatively short with compelling but non-essential side content.

I'm surprised Disco Elysium would struggle to run, it's certainly stylised but doesn't seem at all graphically demanding! I'm assuming you've bumped especially the shader settings down?

I blasted through Control the other week and then had an itching to play The Witcher. I didn't get all the way through the DLCs for The Witcher 3, so I considered doing NG+ on my save since it's been a while. Instead I figured I'd give The Witcher 2 and I've been enjoying that. I'm also nearly finally done reading all the novels at this point...

I think the mark of a good brain-scratching puzzler is the ability to make you feel simultaneously dumb while you try to figure something out, and a genius when you finally solve it. I really love the rules manipulation element, though I also feel a bit unhappy with how inelegantly I end up finishing some levels. I'll admit that I haven't fired it up in a little while, but from what I remember you don't get a recap of your solution? I think replays would help, by letting you reconstruct what you actually did.

I finally finished chapter 2 of Dragon Quest Builders on my Switch. There's something very satisfying about having the freedom to build (although you're limited to your town's radius) while still being guided by objectives. It feels like the days are a bit short sometimes. As with a lot of games, there's New Game+ kind of content, challenges to complete (that you only learn about after finishing a chapter), but I don't think it's enough of an incentive to actually go and replay. I'm pretty content just going through once.

Last night I also fired up Divinity: Original Sin 2, also on my Switch. I played some of the first one on PC, but I got a little stuck. Regardless, the writing, depth, and mechanics are really alluring. Hopefully having it on a portable console will let me pick it up a bit more often!

I just found this Symphony of the Night soundtrack cover. There's some pretty fantastic depth to video game music, I like the thematic curations of it on ABC Classic's Game Show.

This is a pretty cool idea, although it feels like another take on the Nix (or maybe GoboLinux or Haiku packaging).

I find it pretty fascinating to get a deep look into how a workflow that has been refined for a long time, and is so crucial for the Linux project, actually works!
