Zachtronics just announced and released a new game in Early Access: MOLEK-SYNTEZ
@zachtronics:
Use the MOLEK-SYNTEZ to create small molecules with various pharmacological effects from the comfort of your small Romanian apartment. NOW AVAILABLE ON STEAM! https://t.co/nSk1BVAKg8
I'm just past halfway through the game and I've got to say, it feels like exactly the game you expect from Zachtronics. Refreshingly, there's only one screen of puzzles here, so it feels like I'm going to make it to the end quite quickly without having to pick away at this game in bite-sized chunks over several weekends. (Though there's a strong chance the last puzzles will take the most about of time.)
Even though it's got chemistry themes (similar to SpaceChem) and the graphics of TIS-100, this game is definitely closer to Opus Magnum in gameplay and mechanics, so if you liked that, you'll like this.
Oh, you dove into it really quickly. How many puzzles are there, and how much time have you put in so far?
I'm 6 hours in with 17 puzzles done, and there are presently 34 puzzles. So, it can be a time sink for sure.
So the return to programming puzzle games didn't take very long, heh! Looks rather low-key, production-wise. Kinda like TIS-100, a smaller game to bridge the gap to the next larger release?
Maybe, it's definitely on the cheaper side and the Steam page says that they're expecting to only be in Early Access for a month.
I haven't even touched EXAPUNKS yet, I'm starting to fall behind on these.
It's worth noting that Zachtronics treats Early Access as more of a QA for puzzle balance than anything. The game, in most other respects, is "finished".
Oh EXAPUNKS is great, you're really in for a treat once you try it out. I think it's my favorite of all the Zachtronics games!
Only two weeks later, MOLEK-SYNTEZ has been released from Early Access now: https://twitter.com/zachtronics/status/1196871681282736128
