the justice system is still fine as is on a practical level. Instead of purnishing her for doing something wrong (which would be something she genuinely could not understand), we'd be showing her that this is the consequence for the actions she took, which wrongful or not she should take into account in her future endeavors.
That said, intent is a major factor in deciding the appropriate level of purnishment. I think for cases like hers, there needs to be a category (if not already) for patterns of behavior that are judged as if they were done with intent. I think we care about whether a crime is intentional because 1. if it is, the person is less likely to have done so in other scenarios, so lesser purnishment is fair; and 2. we want to maximize mercy whenever possible.
If someone can be such a habitual liar to the point they're incapable of acting more truthfully, then (1) doesn't apply. (2) can give or take. Here the one getting mercy is likely incapable of appreciating it (as that requires that they appreacite the fact they did something wrong to begin with), such treatment is probably more for the benefits of other people.
I imagine it's like catching a loose tiger that has mauled a bunch of people. It's incapable of knowing right and wrong, still we need to balance between our desire to feel safe vs. to protect wild animals.

Something that I haven't appreciated before was that the major source of funding for math comes from teaching, and how an important portion of doing math research is in building new theories, both require relatively more human involvement.

We shall now begin ethics is a story about an ethics teacher who helps provide guidance to students via his lessons. Each chapter feature a student with a problem that ranges from serious to mundane (e.g. from shoplifting or unsafe sex to not getting enough sleep before class), and whenever the occasion allowed it, teacher will explain to them about a pholosophy or relevant concept, which let them think about their situation on their own.
Despite the preachy-sounding premise, the story is fairly realistic about the extent that theoretical advices could reach another person, especially teenagers. Sometimes the students gained clarity and changed their behavior, sometimes they didn't change but still got a different perspective, sometimes they were just confused or even lashed back. The teacher himself also had his own flaws which he still struggled to resolve.
The story works pretty well as light introduction to a variety of ethical concepts, with each student serves as demonstration of how those concepts could be applied in practice, as well as the extent that such concept could lead to meaningful change.

focused on the girl's internal journey in deciding who to trust and that's what ultimately saved her. Coraline was more oriented toward being an action adventure.

Set in a future where the sky has been entirely blocked of sunlight and all natural plant life has gone extinct. In order to maintain the oxygen supply for life to function, the world relies on a technolgy that gradually turned humans into plants (who may or may not loose their consciousness after the fact). For ethical reason, the procedure is permitted only for those who are already going to die, who then also received a sum of money to enjoy their last days. However, reality is anyone struggling financially routinely fake their conditions to apply, and the authorities turns a blind eye to it.
Basically, this is a world where poor people can only survive by giving themselves a terminal illness, and society relies on human sacrifice to function. It's a pretty bleak setting and the plot is fairly grounded. The MC has a small superpower but it's pretty limited. There're fighting but the primary action is information warfare. Somehow the author created an arc about the HR department and that was one of the most tense I've felt reading a manga.
Political thriller x philosophical dilemma. Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell except without the mind trips.
Edit: I've just realized the title is "fool night" as in "full night", since there's no sunlight.

When writing first came about, it was mainly for recording facts and events, or at least...Regarding detecting AI, I happen to think we'll turn the other way. In some sense we've been here before. When writing first came about, it was mainly for recording facts and events, or at least what the writers believed as true and had happened. Then someone had the idea to completely make everything up, and the worst part was it sold! Humanity didn't collapse into a post-truth society, and we didn't come up with any sophisticated truth checking methods either. The solution was more or less a cultural one, where we collectively decide some writings are now categorized as 'fiction', with both writers and readers largely adhere to convention. Something similar could happen for our relationship with AI.
It's interesting that there are cases where people got upset that something advertised as AI-generated turned out to have a director carefully control the output. I think people care about not being deceived more than the actual quality.
