Fair, it seemed newer but that doesn't mean better either. I'm usually wasting my money on flagships so I'm definitely less knowledgeable on Sony.

I'm a little confused by what you say about your wife embracing obsessive tendencies, but it's also possible she's neurodivergent in some other way and relates to ADHD-related content due to similarities between her experiences and those of someone with ADHD. But figuring that out would also be the job of a professional, and it might be difficult to investigate if she's wed to the idea that she has ADHD specifically.

She basically decided that she had ADHD and that expressed through things like playing the same video game over and over or just listening to the same band. I hadn't noticed that behaviour before and wanted her to do what you suggest, speak to a professional to see if it is really ADHD or something else. I'm not a big fan of self diagnosis or TikTok diagnosis so I was hoping she would speak to a professional instead of deciding she had a condition. It didn't really go anywhere, but if she does really have ADHD she has coped with it 40+ years and it's not negatively impacting her day to day that I can see.

Not sure this is helpful at all, but my wife also struggled with getting an ADHD diagnosis in Canada.

I'm no expert, but I have been with my wife for over 10 years and I never noticed anything that would make me think she has ADHD. A couple years ago she watched videos on TikTok that convinced her she has ADHD, which led to her embracing obsessive tenancies. Seeing this, I encouraged her to speak to a professional in hopes that it would validate her assumption or help her move on from the changes in behaviour I had noticed.

Apparently the doctor said there weren't very good ways to test it and if my wife doesn't feel like it impacts her life negatively and doesn't want to take medication, then there isn't much benefit in pursuing a diagnosis. But it is extremely rare to develop ADHD later in life and is often misdiagnosed. We kind of just left it there, as I don't have the ability or knowledge to pretend to diagnose my wife but she seems to embrace it.

I don't know if that helps since you actually have negative experiences related to your potential ADHD, but it sounds like it is also hard to get ADHD diagnosed in Canada.

If you want to stick with Sony, the Sony Xperia 10 VII meets your hard requirements and has an audio jack. Basically an upgraded version of your phone, although I guess the dimensions have changed. I'm not super familiar with Sony phones, but should be a fine replacement if you want something familiar.

Most of his books are fantastic. Especially anything before God Delusion. You can find most in libraries so you can read them without supporting him.

I keep trying to find a turn based game to replace Total War: Warhammer 3, at least until the next DLC comes out but ideally a complete replacement as I have dropped more than 1200 hours into TW:W3.

I finally got around to starting Age of Wonders 4 and it has me hooked. I apparently played AoW3 for 25 hours at some point, but I remember nothing about it.
AoW4 often gets compared to Civilization but fantasy. This is a poor comparison, but I get it, although combat is a lot better than in Civ. A better comparison is Disciples 2. This feels like a perfect evolution to Disciples 2, which I have been looking for basically since my original Disciples 2 CD broke from playing it a ton as a youth.

Turn based, tons of options to build out your city, tons of units, leveling heroes, clearing NPC mobs, magic and spells, research trees, fun combat with the ability to auto resolve. It hits the sweet spot for me when it comes to fantasy 4X. I'm still only in my first game, so I guess I could still get bored, but that seems unlikely.

I am always hesitant to start a Paradox game "late" as you can drown in the DLC, but it sounds like the DLC is all optional and similar to how TW:W3 does it, which is great.

I don't know, for some reason my mind goes to Doom guy, especially the 2016 version. Does this world have to be full of Doom guys? Who gets to point them in what direction or do they only care about killing demons. Is Doom guy inherently good? Could we just point him at Putin and tell him to end their war of aggression on Ukraine?

I guess Doom guy is basically the equivalent of a nuke, but slower? Like who would be dumb enough to attack Canada if we could just unleash one or more Doom guys on you? But at least his impact is probably less bad on the environment when compared to drop nukes.

Maybe that's how we got hell on earth? Canada unleashed Doom guy on the USA, they made a deal with the devil as only demons stand a chance against doom guy, and so Canada inadvertently ends the world with hell on earth.

    Whoops.

People definitely confuse Colbert as some hardcore liberal just because he has been making fun of the hardcore elements of the conservative movement for decades. But the reason he is so good at that is his own knowledge from the inside. He is a Christian and as far as I can tell, a good man. He reminds me of other Christians I grew up with who I see none of in MAGA, maple MAGA or any of the people who claim to be Christian but seem to just use religion as an excuse to hate.

Regardless, he makes fun of the extreme night after night and it is easy to assume that he is "on the other side" when in reality he is calling out his own side he no longer recognizes.

Expecting comedians to save us is delusional. They don't believe it's their job and their perceived morals fall apart fast, like all the comedians who played that middle Eastern show.
