I suppose I should be finding a reason to complain but Crunchyroll didn't have an app for my TV so that will actually be pretty convenient if the price is fair in my location.

Will I get to transfer my account with all my lists and watch history? Is this effectively just a discount on the billing side?

They already do the same thing with Max. (Or how Hulu shoves Showtime or other results in, but requires a separate subscription.)

That sounds awfully complicated. I wouldn't expect that to happen.

Gives Crunchy more exposure I guess. Amazon Prime itself doesn't have a big library. Guess they doing this to help alleviate that.

Cool, I hope this means that they're also open to operating as an Apple TV+ channel, so I can browse and watch their offerings with the built in tvOS/iOS TV apps which I can trust to be engineered reasonably well. They're already taking subscriptions through the App Store so they're already 90% of the way there, just let me ditch the official app.

I currently do this with Paramount+ for Star Trek and it's much nicer than having to wrestle the official Paramount app.

I didn’t even realize that Apple TV+ had sub-subscription options. There’s a lot of stuff I would prefer to watch that way too even if it’s just for scroll wheel scrubbing.

Yeah it's rather confusing since Apple TV+ channels are viewed through the Apple TV app, but are different from the Apple TV+ service.

I think so, yes. Probably doesn't make sense to everyone, but the Crunchyroll app is unavailable on many devices. Like my TV.

I’m generally seeing a lot of confusion here about what this actually is. The whole idea here is not that Amazon had bought Crunchyroll, but that you can now access Crunchyroll from the Amazon Prime Video interface as a separate channel subscription.

As an example, assume an average Amazon Prime member wants to watch the Halo series on Paramount+, they can scroll to the show and it will offer them to subscribe to the channel for $X.xx per month. They can then access the channel through their normal Prime Video app. The same thing applies to Crunchyroll. They can choose to subscribe through the app and be billed as part of their Prime membership. Basically just facilitating your parting with your money.
