What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)
What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!
Well I guess I'm a day late in posting, but not terribly late. Blaming the new terraria update for consuming all my free time. Anyhow, managed to finally start watching BNA this week and not really sure what to think from just the first episode. One of these weeks I'm also going to have to run through some extra episodes of BNA and GitS.
2020 Spring Week 7
Shironeko Project ZERO CHRONICLE Ep 7
Got another slow slice of life episode. And at this point I’m just wondering when things will start kicking off again. While I like this stuff fine, and it is much better than the fighting. At the same time, it just doesn’t feel like much progress it actually being made in terms of story at all. The characters are growing closer sure, but that is all that has happened in two episodes. Just hope we get some more story-based episodes now.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Ep 8
What an odd episode this was. Definitely didn’t expect to see this happen on this episode at all. But I do really love everyone’s reactions and desires that got shown. Some were really rather creepy, but other’s like Gerald’s were just pretty normal and make perfect sense for what he wants thus far.
Also love that Mary is both possessive of Alan but also Katarina. Like she can’t make up her mind which one she wants more at all. I can’t help but feel a tiny bit bad for her, but more so for Alan having to deal with this. I don’t have a clue how it ends, but I do feel like Mary and Alan will probably work out in the end though.
Princess Connect! Re: Dive Ep 7
So yeah, this was 100% your standard gacha game story stuff. I can see this whole episode being a cutscene almost shot for shot from the game. Also, really nice to see us getting some story though. While I enjoy just fun slice of life stuff, sometimes getting story progress is just as important.
Really do actually look forward to what the story would lead to. While I feel like it is pretty standard fair, it is rather enjoyable. Don’t always need super groundbreaking new stories, sometimes something simple with great characters is just enough for me.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War? Ep 7
While this type of stuff is enjoyable, I guess it just starts to get a bit dull to me after a while. Like I want to see more progress occur, but you just have periods of time were I just don’t feel like very much keeps happening. At this moment I don’t feel like we are learning all that much about the characters we don’t already know. Besides the slightly annoying Iino moments, in which she exists but just doesn’t have any role to play at all. Just wish they would push forward a bit more in the story.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Ep 5
Man, this just doesn’t feel remotely like what Ghost in the Shell should be. And entire episode of incredibly lackluster action scenes. No actual interesting dialogue or intrigue at all, definitely no philosophy.
Also, what happened to Major’s abilities in this show. They have been completely neutered for no reason at all. Somebody who in the past has done incredibly hand to hand combat with a variety of tanks and mechs, now just gets destroyed by this one mech and guy. Then when she dives in it looks like she gets hacked instead, the incredibly hacker who has essentially had an entire season based around her abilities and competing with another amazing hacker was defeated in 2 seconds flat.
Just, how to you destroy so many points of an incredibly series and set of characters so quickly.
BNA Ep 1
I just don’t know what to think of this episode at all. It is super stylized visuals and looks interesting sure. But it just felt off. The conflict between beastman and humans feels strange and forced already. Michiru doesn’t interest me all that much, besides the story behind why she suddenly turned into a beastman I really don’t care much about her. I also don’t understand why the two sides fight if beastman can turn into humans, how are they any different. IDK, the main conflict just doesn’t do much for me. And while I have questions, I don’t feel super invested in them.
2010 Spring Throwback Week 7
Night Raid 1931 Ep 7
Well this was a full lore dump episode, guess it didn’t do much for me. Sure, we learned about what happened and will be important for the final major arc of the show probably. But just having a solid lore dump episode like this is rather dull.
House of Five Leaves Ep 7
It seems that things are finally moving forward for the main character. Working through everything that is affecting him still. Though I really don’t know if so much time if this was all worth it. Just feels like a long time as passed without much occurring, or me really liking the characters, to finally see some character progression for him.
The Tatami Galaxy Ep 6
What an odd episode, and I don’t see what has occurred at all in this episode. I just feel like I’m watching the same events play out over and over again in each episode. But don’t see how it is all connected at all. An episode of crazy events and happenings, then by the end he half regrets what happens, and half celebrates, and it just ends. I just want to see what this all is leading to.
Yep, my feelings almost exactly too. TBH, I'm surprised you made it to episode 5. I barely made it past episode 3 before I lost heart and gave up on it. :(
Hi all.
Lately I've been watching Iroduku: The World in Colors
It's a beautifully animated show that revolves around a world similar to our very own, but with a slight touch of magic. The prominent themes would be time travel and romance.
The OP & ED are enjoyable, I don't skip them.
The story line seems relatively tame but there is a build up.
Characters are very likeable (personality and aesthetics).
Despite all these things, however, I find myself trying to enjoy it more. It doesn't quite pop out as much as I'd like it to, as odd as that sounds. I am more than confident that I will have a good, memorable experience with the rest of the show as I am only about halfway through. I would definitely recommend this show to someone who enjoys the type of anime that makes you feel cozy. As always, watch it all the way through!
On another note, if anyone knows, how do you bold and italicize on tildes? Would be good to know for the future ^~^
Thanks!

I have been trying to catch up with Jojolion (Jojo Part 7). It's great and I really appreciate the storytelling and mystery it has (which was a rare element on the previous jojo installments and now is one of its main themes).
Of course, it still has the complex stand fights all jojo fans grew up to love.
Even if you don't like reading manga that is not finished I recommend it.
Funimation is offering a free month of Premium Plus service for memorial day, using offer code MEMD20. They are the exclusive streamers of Love is War right now, but if you can wait a week, I'm not sure that there is much else in their simulcasts that is "must watch."
I'm watching the isekai trio (bookworm, villainess, 8th Heir), but it's just plain not going fast enough for how much stress I am dealing with lately. And so I decided to start watching Avatar from the beginning again.
