I'd be perfectly happy if they just added Funimation's content back to VRV. And then we can finally give the Funimation apps the boot they deserve.

Does VRV still exist? I thought they shut down.

VRV is mentioned as a "Crunchyroll brand" so I'm assuming it's included as part of the sale, what they're doing with the platform after that is anyone's guess.

Crunchyroll app needs a huge revamp, starting with adding profiles.

I just hope whatever these services become is accessible in Brazil. We have Crunchyroll, we don't have Funimation.

Crunchyroll have dubious origins as an illegal anime streaming site that progressively turned more legit over the years. Their platform isn't exactly good for anime streaming, especially here in Britain where most of their content is geo-blocked because they can't be arsed to secure broadcasting rights for markets outside of the US & Canada, even though they'll still charge us the same amount as what Americans are paying for a greatly reduced library of anime & manga.

Funimation on the other hand are a company I don't like for their business practices, how they're going closer to monopolising the international anime market and how they've handled certain controversies.

The only good that could possibly come from this merger is having both sites merge into one unified service that would boast the largest anime library. But at the same time I'd rather give Netflix my money because they've genuinely been popping off with some of their dubs & localizations, i.e. Little Witch Academia, Knights of Sidonia, Aggretsuko and the recent Shaman King reboot.
