First, thanks for posting this. Every time I see awards like Hugo I tell myself, "When you finish this current book/series, go pick a book off this list!" Then, I promptly forget all about it when...

Which brings me to my question. What are everyone's recommendations for a book tracking application? I've tried to use Goodreads and, frankly, it's just too cumbersome to use.
My general wishes are:
Easily add books to my "want to read" list.
Mark books as read (bonus if I can give it a thumbs up or down)
"Watch" an author and get a notification when they publish a new book
Get good recommendations based on the thumbs up I gave in #2.
Fantasticfiction.com may meet your needs, it's basic and more author centralized. I also get emails for new releases and new upcoming books for just those authors.

I wanted to like it, but so far it really isn't fitting the bill. I went through and added 181 books I've read. Notably, it did not have a way to indicate whether I liked the book or not. Next, I...

Next, I went to my Profile section where I can see the options "Next in series", "New books", and "Recommendations".
Clicking "New books" and "Recommendations" both tell me, "You haven't followed any authors yet." Sigh. Can't it just understand the authors from all the books I added?
Clicking "Next in series"...does nothing. Even though I have several series that I have not completed.
This could be so much better if they just added a thumbs up or thumbs down and then made recommendations based on books you liked. Also, letting me know the next books in a series that I started should be fairly easy. They should give you the ability to tell it not to remind you about a series (if you didn't like it).
Hm, no I get why it isn't landing but it's definitely author oriented so it is more about books by Author A than Books that happen to be by Author A. Not sure why the next in series isn't working....

Not sure why the next in series isn't working. Sorry it didn't land!
Wow, I have some catching up to do. Interesting that Children of Time won best series. I struggled to make my way through the first one, so I didn't bother continuing the series.

I bought Legends and Lattes because of the list. It looks like it's going to be a comforting read.
It's very enjoyable and there's another book out soonish!

I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard good things about https://joinbookwyrm.com/
Looks really interesting. I will definitely give it a try!

Thanks. Will also be checking this out.

Maybe try Story graph
I do like that as well!

I really like Scalzi, so I may have to check out Kaiju Preservation Society. I just got through his new novel, Starter Villain, which was very fun
I recommend it, I’m not an avid reader but I finished it basically on one cross country plane ride. Very quick and easy read.

A crime that Ogres didn't win best novella, although tbf it never had a chance. Cannot recommend it enough, one of the best reads of 2022.
Already in my TBR but thanks for the rec
