All that while Brandon Sanderson's 1000 page+ Stormlight Archive books very rarely go over 10€.
I got the first four for free from Tor when Book 5 came out, have been waiting for 6 to go on sale since. The price hasn't dropped once. And my local (non-american) libraries don't carry these.
Enjoyed the shit out of the first five though, Murderbot is a good protagonist and gets into some unique issues because of what they are.
I think the books are paced masterfully. I'd rather they are short like this instead of being stuffed with filler to justify a price point. It's also not necessarily less effort to write short. "I...

I have seen them on sale here in the US. I think that your complaint may be with whoever has the European publishing rights. I doubt she sets the prices in the US either. It's also Martha Wells....

Ms. Stewart
It's also Martha Wells. Martha Stewart is unrelated.
"Mr. Sanderson" may have a smidge more negotiating power. Or may have a different contract. Or may be prolific enough the discount is better business. I'm not a publisher, IDK.
(It feels weird to use first name /last name for one author and title/ last name for another. I tried it reversed and it's odd. )

But I really love the murderbot books. I've checked all the audiobooks out from the library and relistened several times because one's always available and I relate to a neurodivergent MC that just wants to be left alone but also not
Excellent, I was needing a new book to pickup and I'm a fan of this series. Though I should probably get Fugitive Telemetry back from my friends and actually read that one first, then read this...

I really liked this series, but Audible listed book 7 as "Home" and not available on Audible and System Collapse as Book 8. I couldn't find much else related to this "Home" book so now I'm going to assume it doesn't exist and someone at Audible screwed up. If anyone else knows if there is a short story or something I'm missing I'd appreciate it.
"Home" looks like a short story, according to Goodreads, who calls it entry #4.5. I haven't read any of them past 4, but I quite liked that one, so I guess I ought to see what's been happening...

It's a short story available here https://www.tor.com/2021/04/19/home-habitat-range-niche-territory-martha-wells/ Also Kevin Free does a great job with the audiobooks. A bit of a Levar Burton vibe...

Murderbot doesn't want to care about humans but they do keep getting themselves in trouble, and in the capitalist hellscape of the corporate rim, some of them are too stupid, or too fleshy and weak, to survive corporate espionage, assassination and full bots. Murderbot is a SecUnit, and legally it's property, but it's also a being, a person, with anxiety when it has to make eye contact, who would rather not be perceived. Who wants to be left alone and also maybe wants to connect. A little. If it has to.
Also the first several stories are novellas and are quick reads/listens.

Whoops, that was a proper brain fart 😅 Fixed
I believe the first 3 or 4 are free on audible. Not sure if that's normal or some special that had.

Awesome! Thank you for the notice, I've greatly enjoyed this series.
Would someone mind selling me on this series?

Thanks, will keep an eye out for it.
Wow, I had no idea until now that there would be a 7th. I thought that the 6th would be the last for some reason.
