I’ve read it. It’s a long, uneven, wide-ranging book covering a lot of history, only vaguely related to science fiction or fantasy, but still pretty great and recommended. I think it got an award because Ada Palmer is both a historian and a science fiction author.
Until I got to the end I was for some reason fully convinced that the italics were comments by the awards committee, and was deeply concerned by ‘heard good things, not read’

Neil Clarke and Clarkesworld are really on a well deserved roll these last couple of years. Not surprised that the Thomas Ha story won, it is definitely worth reading.

Indeed, related works is an intentionally broad category so that those vaguely related things can win.

Not a series. Neil Clarke is the editor of Clarkesworld and that magazine has had many short story winners the last couple of years.
