A bit ago I made a post on RMK, a rust keyboard firmware, and said that I was trying to port RMK to my keyboard. While, I got it done, and wrote a quick blog post about the experience!

Interesting stuff. I remember the vast amounts of confusion I was hit with when I started going down the keyboard rabbit hole, especially in relation to QMK (like cloning the entire repo...)....

These days i've found ZMK to be a glorious abstraction, but I also stay away from some of the more complicated functionality (leader key comes to mind). I suspect it'll probably just be added eventually, if it isn't already and I just haven't noticed, but the idea of the codebase being in rust instead of C is intriguing. Also looks like a use case that I can at least understand the basics of, and appreciate any gains/losses.
That said given your experience it's not something I'll be messing with yet for sure. I could probably figure out the pinout for my Chiri CE, but that's right at the edge of my skills, and I certainly don't code in rust (despite wanting to learn), so I suspect this would be a miserable starting project.
Edit-
Side question: How as transitioning to the sweep? Are you using home row mods?

Been using the sweep for about a year now. The transition to the sweep took about 2 weeks, during the second week, I was good enough to use it for work. Im not using home row mods, per se. All my mods but the shift key are actually on the bottom row, the home row is where I put my layer shifts (combined with their usual letters in a hold/tap config).
