This is an insanely good article, than you for posting it! It's testament to the depths of programming! 90% of the stuff here I'll never have use for but it comes together into a near unbelievable...

0.138 ms latency is super impressive . I'd hazard a guess the average print statement has nearly as much nowadays. If the claims are accurate, far as I can tell this is firmly imperceptible to humans. Of course, add network lag on top but it someone makes a LAN client for this, it could push some fairly realtime experiences.

Neat, reminds me of Via. They solve different problems, but they are similar problems.

Unfortunately the Via project seems to be dead. I thought it was very cool though, and I hope that other companies like Valve can run with the idea.

Yeah Via's site has been taken down too. It was a very cool project, and I was hoping Valve would hire him and run with the idea, but I guess they didn't :( I hope he does release the code...

I hope he does release the code eventually. I'd really like to be able to offload my entire Steam library onto my NAS, and then use Via to stream game files onto my device. On my local network that probably wouldn't be any better than "regular" game streaming like Steam's Remote Play or Sunshine, but I think Via's approach of streaming files instead of video frames would work better for playing away from home.

It's already there. I'm intending to futz around with it this weekend. Edit: Oh you meant Via, not the streaming server/client here. BRB coffee....
