Also, thanks to @Thra11, I've finished a "Jesse Killion" mask! I had to do some tweaking to get the pattern to print the right size, and then use the pattern two sizes smaller than recommended to get a good fit, but I'm super happy with the finished product! The only downside now is that I used thrift store fabric which still (seemingly impossibly) smells like thrift store even though 1) I've had it for years, 2) I gave it a pre-soak in vinegar, and 3) I washed it in warm water. It's back in the vinegar bath until the next laundry day. 🤞

I am currently cutting out a dress pattern to sew for my ball jointed doll. I'll be trying my best to very neatly hand sew it. I tried machine sewing a much smaller dress, but I kept fucking it up and I'm not very good with machine sewing so it was very messy lol. I've been looking through different tutorials about the different types of stitches and luckily, my number one fav youtube Bernadette Banner has some nicely done videos explaining several stitches. Absolutely love her content, and I love when people go into greater detail when explaining how/why they're doing things. Super helpful for my dumbass.

I'm knitting a lace scarf for a friend and fucked up on part of it, but, luckily, I have 3 lifelines so I can back track. I only lost a couple of rows, but I absolutely adoooooore how it's turning out. I'm hoping to get some serious knitting in this weekend!! Though I am wondering if I should've gone with a silk mix for the yarn. I think that would've been nice for feel and drape, but live and learn.

I just logged in thinking I’d like to ask you how your doll clothes endeavors are coming along, and here you are reporting! I think I feel about hand stitching how you feel about machine stitching...

Whenever I need YouTube help, I tend to go with the shortest video, since I’m not very patient. For the same reason, I’m down for recommendations (spare myself the hassle of wading through the dross). I’ll be checking out Bernadette’s videos! It would be nice to get better at hand stitching. My hands are imminently more portable than my Singer!

@monarda and @mat how are your projects coming?

I have made no progress on the quilt, but I am making slow progress on the embroidery. I tend to fall into a trap of not moving forward with new skills when I am afraid of not doing it right, so every time there's a new stitch in the project, I have to psyche myself up to do the next bit.

I can't wait to see your finished skirt!

Today I met my goal of cutting out all the pieces from my test fabric 👏 I won’t have time to work on it again until later in the week, and when I do, it’s time to figure out how the button-hole-making-attachment-thing works 😬

And let me know what you think of Bernadette!! She does a lot of historical fashion (primarily Victorian/Edward Ian I do believe) but she has a lot of fun videos on sewing and fashion and her building dresses/clothes. I think most of her videos are longer but I think she has such a lovely cadence, I enjoy listening to her.

I've been taking lots of pictures because my Dad, who normally helps with stuff like this, can't be here, so I'll probably do a big post on the whole project once it's reached some kind of end-like point - just because it's so ludicrous if nothing else.

Did you mean to reply to @eve? Because if so, you accidentally made a new top-level comment instead. :P

Working on my first EP, going along pretty well so far, just needs the finishing touches.

So I've got 3 piece that are actually coming along. One is a 60's Brit pop-like tune, one is an orchestral piece that sounds like a movie score, and the last is a simple retro techno piece that makes me think of Kraftwerk, a little. The problem is that I'm not sure where to take them or how to develop them. What I have, I like, but I'm getting hung up on moving them forward. Anyway, I'm sure I'll power through this block eventually. Or I'll get distracted with something new. We'll see!

That would require me to actually finish it! But if I do manage to do that, I've been thinking about putting some stuff up for others to listen to. I'll definitely post here if it happens.

I am trying to create a tool that I would like to myself and which I would like to use. Something similar to this site. Certainly not a copy. And there is one condition, I would like to repeat it in php. Unfortunately in php for some reason they do not do something like that, or the code is too bloated. A good reason to practice programming, learn php better, and create a product that can be useful.

Like: news.ycombinator.com, lobste.rs, discourse.org, flarum.org I tried to study their code to better understand the approach to this. I do not give a link to my project, it is still raw, tk. I just started doing it.

I'd posted a few Kaguya-sama fanfics on reddit over the past year or so. I finally decided to post them on ao3.org just for the heck of it: https://archiveofourown.org/users/ptczed
