I've been trying to make omurice lately, but have yet to succeed in wrapping the rice without the egg falling apart on me. So far all of my attempts have involved trying to slide/flip the egg off the frying pan onto an already-formed rice mound, but I think for my next attempt(s) I may try putting the rice mound directly on the egg while it's still in the pan and see if I have better luck doing it that way.
I'm deliberately avoiding watching any YouTube videos on the best techniques and seeing if I can hack it myself through trial and error, because it's more fun that way and even failed omurice is still delicious so extra attempts gives me an excuse to eat it more often.
I'll give you a link once you want to see how it's actually done.

He also did go to Japan to cook with the guy, a good follow-up. One of the most fun cooking videos I've ever watched.

I just got my farm share for the week and, based on what they gave me, it's going to be eggplant parmesan, twice-cooked cabbage, feta-crusted baked tomatoes, stuffed peppers, cinnamon-roasted potatoes, salad and peach kuchen. We got a bunch of extra tomatoes due to the storm, so I'll make some marinara and some tomato paste either tonight or tomorrow, and I'll probably pickle the beets, beans, and okra at the same time. (The extra herbs get cleaned and frozen every week, then I dry them all in one big session at the end of the season.)
I'm an extremely amateur/beginner cook, but I like cooking for my wife when I have the enthusiasm to do so, so I made a creamy tuscan beef pasta for her. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as good as I wanted because I added more pasta than I should have - for some reason I thought the whole bag was the right amount and then I had to proportionally add more ingredients.
I think the recipe I was following wasn't particularly flavorful either, so that was something that can be improved upon
i had a fantastic recipe recently shared to my partner by her friend. it is a salad of Halloumi cheese toasted in olive oil, handfuls of fresh basil, toasted mustard seeds, sliced nectarines, a pound of sliced heirloom tomatoes, more olive oil, black pepper, and a lemon. one of the best things i've eaten this year.
I’ve been trying to get into wine more, and would appreciate any advice on different types to try.
For reds I’ve avoided typical bold wines like Argentinian Malbec and Merlot and gone for others from Europe.
For whites, I’ve really enjoyed reisling recently. I had a very shit chardonnay recently which has put me off.
A good thing to try when travelling is to have the local wines, I had some fantastic red wine from Poland recently on a trip to Krakow.
Are you in Europe?
Yes
