It's compactness and portability makes it easier to carry on foot, and being a long stroke bullpup makes it fairly unique.
For the opposite of that, check out the Anzio 20mm rifle. For size comparison, that is a Barrett .50 next to it in the photo. And here is a video (Warning: Loud!) of one being fired at a range,...

And here is a video (Warning: Loud!) of one being fired at a range, with a Barret .50 in the foreground. The pressure wave it creates is so powerful it even sets off a car alarm at the range. :P
p.s. Always glad to see another fan of gun Jesus on Tildes. ;) And coincidentally enough, the next video the algorithm recommended to me after the Anzio 20mm one was another Forgotten Weapons vid of an older Lahti L39 20mm rifle being fired by Ian at the Julia auction range.
The only gun people I've seen that don't like Gun Jesus either don't have semi-long attention spans or require politics to be included in gun coverage, which Ian is of the very few that does not....

I've seen most of his videos, and laugh at the 11:00 mark in the L39 video when he releases the bolt to chamber a round and it alone causes more visible recoil in his body than most guns do.
Having been present when both a M82 and Lynx have been fired (I've only fired an M82) and seeing the person handle both, I'd say you're right. That said the Lynx has about 30+ years of advancement...

Well, someone did make an experimental bullpup variant of the Barrett. Just in case of helicopters.
