This could either be good or bad for SWTOR. As someone who has recently regained interest in the game and have been back playing it the past few months since not really playing it since the first couple years it was released, I have been thoroughly enjoying my time there. Hopefully Broadsword can keep the game going strong and fix the economy issues players are facing in game. I could also see this as them finishing up whatever planned content is already in the works and then going into maintenance mode. I could also see them going the LOTRO route and continue building upon the game and keeping it alive for years to come. Regardless of the outcome, I think there is enough content in the game currently to keep it going for a while.

SWTOR was the first MMORPG that I ever played, deciding to give it a try after finishing KotOR/KotOR2, reading about how story-driven the single player content was, and about how all of the multiplayer content was optional. (Side note: the only other MMORPG that I played was Star Trek Online, which is also still going pretty strong and quite enjoyable.)

I really enjoyed the game—especially the unique faction/class storylines—and got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Even though it wasn't as good as the unique class stories, the expansions were also pretty interesting, and I've always been meaning to go back and see where the expansion storylines went with Vitius and the Eternal Empire.

I think it certainly makes sense for BioWare to divest its interests from SWTOR and focus on its bigger projects and franchises, and I'm surprised that they didn't do this sooner.

But if this means BioWare is going to laser focused on bringing us great new Dragon Age and Mass Effect games, I'm all for it. If the next DA and ME games fall short of being critical and commercial successes, I think BioWare will be toast. I think they have more leeway with the next ME game after dropping the ball with ME:A, so they really cannot afford to screw things up with the next DA game.
