Marvel Snap players - How's your season going?

Interested to hear from anybody who plays Snap.

What's your thoughts on the current meta?

What do you find the Ghost Spider and Silk so far? Any other cards you're saving tokens ford?

Have you tried Conquest?

I'm mostly pretty casual. I'm free to play, and the highest rank I've reached is 70. I've been playing a my own attempt at a Sera Surfer deck lately (can't bring myself to net deck), and it's been pretty going well for me.

I've got mixed feelings about Conquest so far. Since you're matched up with the same player for several matches, it can be a bit more of a time commitment. And if you get an emote spammer, it can feel a it gruelling. But it helps me think about my matchups in more depth, which is actually kind of cool.

I'm a season pass player, I guess you could say. The highest rank I've held is 76 and am currently 71. I am not a good snapper because I love to watch how games resolve, even when I'm behind. It frustrates me a bit that we don't have a non-competitive way to play, as I'd love to try new decks and oddball ideas without penalty.

The meta feels pretty good. I've gotten a great mix of opponents, although I still feel a little salty about Spider-man/Galactus players. But, everyone does what they need to do to climb!

I've played Conquest twice with a Sera Control deck, which is my strongest deck, but have lost both times. I'm currently trying to craft a deck specifically for Conquest.

My favorite decks are Cerebros, and I'm constantly messing around with different builds.

Skipping Silk at the moment and saving for Miguel (2099) because he might be someone who can finally counter Dracula.

It encourages mind games. I just want to play card games!

I'm a free to play casual player. My highest rank is 58 from the last season. I'm not overly familiar with the games meta, but its fairly refreshing and balanced coming from hearthstone. I grew up loving all things comics, so the game was attractive to me.

I have not tried conquest yet, but I am interested in the mode. I'm glad the Second Dinner is continuing to work on new modes as well as adding new cards and game balance.

I have been playing a combination of Destroy, Move, and Wong decks. Mostly because of the cards I've been able to unlock as opposed to what I'd actually like to play.

I am a huge fan of the games design and artwork. The user interface / experience is also great. I really like all of the micro interactions, the sound design and the card animations. My favorite part of the game design is the 3D cards. The technique they use is fascinating and works extremely well with the cards art / comic style. I find myself fiddling with the cards fairly often. I really wish they'd put some art from Tradd Moore in the game. His art is phenomenal.

I feel like $9.99 a month is a lot to ask for the rewards they provide for a season pass. I would probably fork over cash for a season pass if it was like $4.99.

What is net decking and what cards make up your Sera Surfer deck?

Netdecking is copying a popular deck off someone else, like a streamer or caster, iirc. Say, like, CozySnap posts a vid about a deck he created and is working well... Usually there is an uptick in the amount of people playing that deck. I think it's useful for new players to learn how cards work together and sometimes a good way to break out of a block or discover a new playstyle, which you can then customize to fit your cards and play best.

I don't watch streamers even though I probably should. It does seem extremely useful for all types of players. The game can be deceptively complicated. I very much like discovering things in the game as I go, as opposed to diving too deep into the meta game, which generally means I level up slower than other players. I usually discover new decks or synergies by being beaten by them. I'm sure my win loss ratio is terrible.

Do you have any streamers you reccomend watching besides CozySnap?

Also, I think half the fun of Snap is meeting new decks, getting smashed by them, then trying to come up with something similar or something to oppose!

I was just saying in another comment below that there is never any sort of explanation of the deck synergy, why certain cards are selected, or how to play the deck when the draw order is less than ideal. I just watched a Cozy video covering destroy decks that came out a month ago. I very much appreciate the commentary on the cards and deck strategy.

Absolutely. The randomness of locations and opponents adds to the fun and game balance as well.

Here's my deck. I've basically just got a bunch of 3 cost cards, plus Sera to so I can play 3 on turn 6. I added Goose mostly because I had a cool variant, and it seemed kinda synergistic.

      (1) Nova

      (2) Goose

      (3) Brood

      (3) Mister Fantastic

      (3) Rogue

      (3) Silver Surfer

      (3) Storm

      (3) Captain America

      (3) Juggernaut

      (3) Killmonger

      (3) Maximus

      (5) Sera

I have never built decks from suggestions from people online, but most definitely from people who have trounced me. I have googled deck builds in the past, but there is never any sort of explanation of the deck synergy, why certain cards are selected, or how to play the deck when the draw order is less than ideal. I feel like this would help people understand the fundamentals of card synergy and provide good strategies along with decks.

        Here's my deck.

Oddly enough, minus Goose, this is a deck I can actually build. How is it working out for you this season?

I’ve got a handful of good cards like death, wong, dracula, absorbing man, and venom so in theory I should be able to make a decent deck or two but no luck so far.

It’s tough to get a read on a deck with location rng and opponent/draw rng

I'm mainly playing an Apocalypse deck right now. Pretty low RNG and it's the only "meta" deck I've got the cards for. I was toying with an Orca deck but it's too inconsistent.

Also, Wong needs to get nerfed. 5/3 or add some more counters.

Currently mostly running a by-the-numbers High Evo deck, Knull/Nimrod/Destroyer deck for a super flexible turn 6, and various ways of making hazmat fuckery work. Conquest is really cool, series play which adds extra mindgames and long term counterplay was desperately needed imo.

I'm back on my bullshit, hit my personal goal of being Series 3 complete now that I can buy unlocks with tokens again. I have my upgradable deck that I've been running, and I guess I could give conquest a go. Maybe something with Dazzler and Shanna, a 1 cost swarm special? Or just roll C3.

I had no idea what it was until I watched a video yesterday saying how it broke the mobile card game genre and it's super f2p friendly so I was thinking of giving it a shot. I haven't been as interested in Duel Links as the power creep has gotten kind of out of control since pends and links came around. If Snap is worth playing and not money hungry it could be a good replacement for me.

This started as a distraction from Marvel Strike Force but now I've stopped MSF and just pretty much play snap. I prefer how it's not so much a time suck.

Ended up mainly playing a destroy deck, which just seemed to gel for me. Part of me wonders if the matchmaking algorithm was trying to validate my decision to purchase Knull earlier in the month.

I got to rank 90 yesterday, and was prepared to leave it at that. But then Bar Sinister popped up as the featured location. That location is perfect for zany Carnage, Venom and Arnim Zola plays. I made it the rest of the way riding an almost straight win streak.

How's everyone else wrapping up this season?

Can't break past 74. Been playing since June last year and it's a wall I always hit. I've been trying conquest these last few days and I enjoy it. But it does require more time like you said. I like what the shop offers too.

I love the game and think the monetization is better than most FTP games.

I rode my way up on a Quicksilver/Domino/Lockjaw/Dracula deck which honestly seemed to confuse my opponents, and now I'm trying a Sera/Surfer deck that's working well but probably won't get me across the finish line.
