Props to Sony but I feel like this isn't that accessible? The button sizes are probably okay but because they're all bunched up together in a circle I can easily see anyone with motor skill problems accidently pressing the wrong buttons, if they can even easily reach all of them at all. There's also the bolted on analog that not everyone can use and would just be in the way for some .

I much prefer Microsoft's approach with big, separate, modular buttons/accessories you can freely plug to your liking/needs. They also offer options to play with other parts of your body if you can't use your arms/hands. Like, even if you're tetrapelegic you can find some configurations for it to work for you (for example your head can press large buttons that you can freely attach to a wheelchair). I've seen a couple reviews where folks with cerebral palsy showed their setups with it and it was honestly amazing. I really can't say the same about Sony's controller, I feel like the range of people that can use it is a lot smaller.

Of course I'm not saying I expect every single physical disability to be accounted for when designing a controller but, considering there already exists a very popular accessibility focused Xbox controller, Sony could have taken some cues from it instead of reinventing the whole thing. Also that price tag when you're almost guaranteed to need 2...

Nonetheless, I'm happy more people get to enjoy games.

And already talking about a 'version 2' once they've got real world feedback - like, isn't that why you worked with Ablegamers? To skip needing to fleece people with disabilities for a niche...

I don't wanna be negative so I hope that this controller is exactly what someone needs and it makes their day better.

Oh God that thing is ugly. I'm sure they put effort into the design and such, based on the article, but... do they actually like how it looks? Granted, who cares how it looks? I'm all in for more...

Granted, who cares how it looks? I'm all in for more accessible controllers but the fact that they tout pairing two of them (with that $90 price tag!) as an advantage because you get 8 or 9 buttons per pad when games will map 20 different buttons and triggers on a normal controller, I'm gonna need to see this in action as a solo stick before I go promoting it for my broke friends who might need it.

Sony has several videos showing how it works. Honestly I don't care how it looks, only how well it works.

I only saw the "Design story" video in the linked article before commenting and, to put it plainly, I'd rather see real people using the controller than Sony's overview video. But, yeah, overall...

But, yeah, overall it doesn't matter how it looks.

I guess to each their own, because I think it looks super slick. Very alien, in the sense that I don’t know how I would use it just by looking at it, but the design looks clean and creative to me.
