Kojima is one of the most talented game designers out there, and the moment to moment gameplay of the original Death Stranding was - to me at least - an absolute delight.

Additionally, he should be kept as far away from the writers room as humanly possible. Please.

His worlds are so interesting, filled with many absurd, imaginative, hilarious and even thought provoking ideas, but his story beats fall flat, his characters are one dimensional (at best), and his dialogue is honestly some of the worst in the business. Even some really great performances couldn't save Death Stranding's narrative.

I'll play this game I think and I'll probably have a great time, but I'm mashing the skip button on every cutscene.

This really felt like one of those movie trailers (I feel like I see them a lot for comedies) that tell you everything about the film, lol. 9:40 sounds pretty crazy for an announcement trailer.

Regardless, graphics look good and I'm sure there are some fans on here.

Death Stranding would be a phenomenal film. They have a ton of fully fleshed out cinematic scenes already, so they wouldn't have to do much more but fill in the gaps. That there's a second game coming along makes me hopeful that Kojima will start doing actual films, although I'm a little worried he'll try to do something innovative and boundary-pushing and we'll end up with some Smell-o-vision Netflix Special.

Yeah I think I'd heard he wanted to do an interactive film a while back (and what made me think of a Kojima-Netflix partnership). I'm glad he'll have the opportunity to do ... whatever he's doing....

Yeah I think I'd heard he wanted to do an interactive film a while back (and what made me think of a Kojima-Netflix partnership). I'm glad he'll have the opportunity to do ... whatever he's doing. Kojima seems like the sort of person, similar to that of Hideaki Anno, where if we sit back and let them work their magic, good things come of it.

Also I appreciate that the article basically described a feature-length quick-time-event (QTE), but didn't say it. Because Kojima would invent something fresh somehow, even though it also somehow wouldn't be functionally different. But it would. Because Kojima.

Yeah, I'm a little torn on whether any of this is actually a spoiler though, haha. There's a lot to unwrap and even though the trailers for the first Death Stranding told you a lot, it was just sort of the tip of the iceberg. I suspect this will be the same way even though we had some character reveals and a couple plot points tied back into the first game.

I'd caution people to skip this trailer if they want to. Especially if they enjoyed the story of the first game and think it'd be more enjoyable to go into Death Stranding 2 blind. If they can hold out until 2025 of course.

I can't wait for more Death Stranding. Loved the concepts and all the layers of allegory.

Right—I watched the trailer for Death Stranding, I was enthralled but had no flippin idea what was going on. Months later, I play the game, I am enthralled. Still no idea lol

I know there's not actually an answer to this question, but "What?"

There actually is an answer, and it's "Kojima"... 'nuff said. :P

At the risk of getting philosophical, isn't every allegory a shitpost to someone? And how else will Kojima turn his dreams into memes?
