Is the community as toxic as most multiplayer fps games?

It doesn't feel very sweaty but I also only played with friends, so I'll let other people chime in! It's free so very low risk to try though!
I was afraid it'd be sweaty :( It's not that I don't try my best, but I've just never been competitive and I think it results in worse playing than if I was driven to win. Can't we all just get...

It works best if you can communicate with your team members. I always play with people I know and talk on discord, but there is a built-in voice chat for team members that doesn't seem to get used often.
There's a bit of a meta to changing your weapon loadout or character class depending on what the other teams are doing, but it's still very approachable. There are only 3 character classes and a handful of weapons, so it's not hard to find what works best for your playstyle.
Funnily, it's not the enemy team that bothers me. It's my own team that I get anxiety about. If I'm performing badly then I feel guilty because in a team game it will affect the enjoyment of my...
Funnily, it's not the enemy team that bothers me. It's my own team that I get anxiety about. If I'm performing badly then I feel guilty because in a team game it will affect the enjoyment of my teammates. I had to quit playing League of Legends because a single player can throw the whole game sometimes in spite of the whole team's performance. I couldn't stand making everyone have a shitty 20 minutes then surrendering lol.
I'm down for communication and really enjoy when games have fleshed out ping systems. I like playing Apex Legends because of this.
I’m plying it right now on ps5. I have maybe 40 hours invested. I think it’s a lot of fun. I mainly solo q. I really enjoy how wacky and goofy it is but there is still a serious fps shooter inside...
I’m plying it right now on ps5. I have maybe 40 hours invested. I think it’s a lot of fun. I mainly solo q. I really enjoy how wacky and goofy it is but there is still a serious fps shooter inside the game. The classes are pretty fun and you are encouraged to play with each since they have different abilities. Nothing really feels OP or broken. The devs are pretty responsive.
But again this is a game best played with friends. The ranked mode does get sweaty and it’s tournament based so you’re in for 3-4 games/rounds before you actually get a win. There are a lot of MTs in the game but they are purely cosmetic. The in game currency is pretty easy to get by just playing games and you use that to get weapons and upgrades, etc.
For beginners I’d say start with medium or heavy build. They have more defensive options. The light build is strictly for being a glass cannon imo so it’s a high skill position mainly for dps players.
So, I just played 2 matches of quickplay Cashout. I took your advice and went heavy build and that was absolutely the right call. Allowed me to get my bearings without being insta-killed. Overall...
So, I just played 2 matches of quickplay Cashout. I took your advice and went heavy build and that was absolutely the right call. Allowed me to get my bearings without being insta-killed. Overall I like the speed of the time to kill. Allows for a response if they get the first shot from behind. I spent my teenage years no lifing Halo 2 which has a pretty slow time to kill speed compared to many modern games. It takes some adjustment for me to play something like CoD where death comes quick.
Movement and gunplay feels really good I think. I wish I could instantly memorize map layouts because that's my biggest weakness.
Anyways, going to put some more time in. Thanks for the feedback!
This is absolutely true. In this game, your “50%” win rate is actually 33% due to 3 teams, so if you are unable to enjoy a game that you don’t win as much, prepare to be disappointed. I would...

I would treat this almost like a battle royale in terms of wins because it can get so hectic at the end and it’s anyone’s game a lot of the time but wins are hard to come by.

I'll try it though and report back
I only play with friends in multipleyer games tbh, so I don't think I could tell you too much! Good luck though!

Actually a question:
I see my guns are leveling up. What I don't see is why? Do they gain stats or is it just cosmetic progression?
It's just cosmetics, you unlock different color variants with each level.
All you gain are cosmetics skins for the guns.
The best way I can explain The Finals is that it's usually fun, even when you lose (which you will do 2/3 of the time, because there are 3 teams).
