You put some pretty good years into it! I'd feel emotional too. Every car I've owned def feels like it coincides with an era of my life. I have a lot of great memories loading everybody into someone's car and car pooling to Asheville for live music. So many conversations ranging from intimate to the dumbest shit you've ever heard. The energy that a car full of friends has is hard to beat!

My first car was a 96' Chevy Lumina! A bit of a tank. Everyone at school said I had a grandma car lol. My mother kindly bought it for me, I think it was around $1500 when we got it around 2006? Here's a picture I found online: 96 Chevy Lumina Pic

A girl from school in a decent size truck ended up backing into me at a red light. The bed of her truck just kinda dug into the hood of the car. It turned out that the cost to replace the hood was more than the car's worth so it was technically totaled( I think? not entirely sure how all of that works). So my papaw went to a junk yard and paid basically nothin' for the hood off another Lumina and then we replaced it ourselves! That means we ended up with the insurance money and Lumina in perfectly fine condition!

One of my mom's friends were selling a little pickup truck that my mom wanted to get for me to drive. So, we sold the Lumina and used the combined money with the insurance payout to get the truck! There was still several hundred dollars left after that, so my mom put that towards a car for my younger brother several years later. So getting backed into ended up being a pretty good deal in this situation lol. So that's how we want out separate ways. I thought the truck we ended up buying was kinda dinky and ugly at first, but I became insanely attached to it. I loved that truck so much. It was a 92' Toyota Pickup. Here's a picture I found online: Picture of 92 Toyota Pickup BUT mine was more of a dark steel color with a really nice glitter effect. So many nights loitering in empty parking lots, sitting in the back of the bed, smoking cigarettes, and just being kids. I know who the current owner is and I lowkey hope I come into some money sometime so I can buy it back and get it running.

I'm not sure where to post this because I didn't feel like its own thread would make much sense. Wouldn't produce much discussion. BUT I've got a good deal! Free games!

A couple years ago, a very kind tildes user bought me a copy of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader! I was very very broke and couldn't really afford a full price game so it meant a lot to me. Well, I'm doing a little better now financially and wanted to pass some kindness forward. I decided to try subscribing to Humble Choice a couple months ago which has shaken out in my favor, I've gotten a bunch of great games, but I've also gotten a bunch of keys for games I already own or am just not very interested in. Rogue Trader happens to be one of this month's games, so I figured I'd give it away here!

I've also got some other keys that may get more time in someone else's hands! Everything listed below. 1 game per person for now. Just reply to me here with the game you want. As long as you're the first to ask, I'll send you a PM with the Steam key. I'll edit my post as they're claimed.

Feel free to share any thoughts or experiences on any of these!

warhammer 40k: rogue trader - Steam page
cat quest iii - Steam page
wizard with a gun - Steam page
    let's school - Steam page

lol @ not letting themselves playing women in video games because SAME. In retrospect, there's so so many things I avoided because I didn't want anyone picking up on anything. I've recently been watching Sailor Moon for the first time because as a kid I was afraid of raising suspicions. That and whenever I was caught watching or doing something "for girls", I'd get teased by whoever it was. So I only caught the stray episode of Sailor Moon here and there. Watching the whole thing now has been kind of healing.

I wasn't going to read the TLDR since I read the "long story", but the best part is in there! I'm super excitged for y'all. A move like that can totally reinvigorate the spirit <3

That's so funny, I was just thinking about how I'd like to know more about the clothes washing process and the machines we use. I watched Your dishwasher is better than you think (tips, tricks, and how they work) yesterday and learned a bunch about dishwashers so it got me thinking about washing machines.

$70 for a non-smartphone is a price that makes sense to me. I could totally see why someone would want to use a flip phone especially in the context of curbing their screen time. But some of these prices for "dumbphones" are kinda shocking to me... seems like the minimalist aesthetics and people's strong desire to change their habits are adding an awfully big upcharge.

I know I've been there. I've spent money on products I hoped would change my life. When you're looking for relief you'll spend anything.

I'm watching Sailor Moon 1992 for the first time!! It wasn't really something I could openly watch as a kid. I'm having such a great time watching it. I'm only like 32 episodes in, so I've only reached 1 big plot advancement, but I really love the "monster of the week" format. I love how little violence there. The focus is on the characters and how they spend time with one another with a fun spike in action right at the end. My favorite part is the iconic designs from the guardians to the dark kingdom, but a very close second is how great I think the English voice acting is! I think everyone is perfectly cast and put so much effort into their roles. And the music!! It's easy to see why Sailor Moon is iconic.

I don't know the entire philosophy behind "healing your inner child", but finally watching this show feels like it's doing that a little bit. I feel a little at peace when watching <3 Planning on reading the manga and watching Sailor Moon Crystal at some point too.

I plan on writing an essay after I finish the show, I've got a lot of thoughts about its problematic elements, queer themes, and how it relates to the girlhood I never got to have. I know the world doesn't need another Sailor Moon essay, but I need to write it for me.

What about Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood!! lol

Those are great games. I always wanted to put together a Neverwinter Nights story module. The Aurora engine creation tool didn't seem too overwhelming to learn. I'm looking to the new NWN2 release, maybe I'll put effort into learning that creation tool instead.

I did not beat Jade Empire, but played enough for some first impressions. I just remember thinking the game felt very stiff, but that was a common problem for games of that generation I think. I just didn't think it quite met it's potential and could've knocked a sequel out of the park.

Also excited for the new Kirby Forgotten Land's expansion thing. Love Forgotten Lands A LOT. Kirby probably favorite gaming character, so today was a good day for that.

GameCube classics is also super exciting, super formative years for me and have incredible memories playing GameCube. Need that new GC controller for NSO subscribers.

Omg yes, love when a game has a physical map. I'm with you, I probably wouldn't buy a guide unless I was just head over heels about a game and doing it for novelty reasons. It would need to have some damn good art in it. I would absolutely take a guide as a preorder bonus! (even though i never preorder games). Back in 2003 when TLoZ Wind Waker out, I preordered the game at KMart. Just for preordering, I received a strategy guide for the game AND the full game of Ocarina of Time for GameCube. You'd never see a company giving away a preorder bonus that good anymore. They'd charge you an arm and a leg through a "Special Edition" box set.

Online guides give me joy because it's someone who just really loves the game and wants others to have a resource for that game. I know those guides take forever to write so it's extremely kind.
