I haven't put in that much time with the tech test, but what they gave us feels like Hades. You have a new super bar, that refreshes in between rooms, the upgrade engine seems similar, but they don't give us anything beyond the first biome and not all of the dialogue portraits are there yet. Controls feel like Hades, boss feels like Hades, not a lot to say otherwise.
I'm not sure if I want to play in the technical test since it may ruin the game for me, but since it's building off the floor of Hades 1 I'm pretty confident even a technical test is going to be...

As much as I enjoy Hades, playing it for many more hours (125) than Supergiant's previous titles, (Bastion 25, Transistor 11, Pyre 33) I'm not overly excited for the sequel. I will definitely be buying and finishing it, but I was hoping their next title would have more strategy-based gameplay like in Pyre and Transistor. In some ways, Hades felt like more Bastion and now we're getting more Hades. I really do like the beat-em-up gameplay but it feels very same-y in the hands after the mechanics and movesets sink in.
I think Supergiant could make a great isometric RPG since they did such a great job with that character card sort of dialogue/storytelling style in Pyre and Hades. Maybe encounter-based combat that takes notes from Transistor?
I'm pretty pumped for this, while also having zero intentions of participating in this. I'm just glad a we are making progress towards a full release.
I got in, will report back.

Heracles approves.
