There was a discussion over on the Tildes Minecraft Server topic about plugins/datapacks that can be added to Minecraft servers to create a fresh experience while still allowing vanilla clients to connect. I was thinking about Project Korra in this context, but thought I'd start a new topic for it because I think it's worth highlighting.

In short, it is a suite of server plugins that allow vanilla Minecraft players to have powers like in the Avatar: The Last Airbender (ALTA) universe!

I tried it a few years ago, and it's pretty incredible how much from the ATLA and Korra universe has been crammed into this. And the fact that they did it in a way that allows any vanilla Minecraft player to join is amazing. I played with my kids when they were really into the show, and it was super cool to choose which type of element you could "bend"

It takes a bit of setup, but I highly recommend checking it out if you are looking for a Vanilla++ Minecraft experience (or if you are just a fan of ATLA)

I've never played this specific plugin, but it reminds me of a demigods server I hosted many years ago before I moved onto big modded projects. Various elemental and environmental powers based on the faiths that the player had made for some interesting mechanics in 1.3 land. This actually sounds interesting to me since I love the Avatar universe.

For anybody that hasn't experienced a server like this, I can't recommend it enough. Minecraft server plugins can do some incredible things with no work from a user standpoint.

My oldest son chose earth bending, which gave him the unique power to tunnel through the ground at high speed. This is cool enough on it's own, but he actually used it to build his base underground with no entrances. He and other earth benders with that specific tunneling ability were the only ones that were able to access it.

Meanwhile, I built my base on the side of a cliff. I chose air bending, which gave me a limited hover flight ability that allowed me to reach my base where others couldn't.

These were just 2 of probably hundreds of powers to be had. It was an awesome experience.

Absolutely. I set up a server this summer that had waystone teleportation, and a full RPG skill tree with magical abilities. Zero mods needed client side. It felt like playing modded, and it extended the life of the server greatly by changing the standard Minecraft experience.
