Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are back from the dead with re-releases on PC via GOG.

Both cult classic PlayStation survival horror games are available on the CD Projekt-owned platform DRM-free, with their original content fully intact as part of GOG’s Preservation Program.

Capcom released Dino Crisis on the original PlayStation in 1999 and then Dino Crisis 2 just a year later. Dino Crisis 3 launched as an original Xbox exclusive in 2003 and fans have yet to see a new game since.

Finally! Instant purchase for me, been wanting to revisit this series for a good while now. Hopefully they get the RE:make treatment too at some stage.

I recently played through a few hours of Dino Crisis via a Dreamcast emulator. It honestly holds up decently well, though that’s assuming you have the stomach for old-school survival horror trappings (you know: awkward controls, limited ammo, odd camera angles, nonsensical map layouts, directionlessness, etc.).

I didn’t end up finishing it, but that’s okay by me because I also never actually finished it as a kid either. I also never played DC2 but I’ll probably give it a shot at some point.

One advantage playing it on emulator probably has over the GOG release is that I was able to use save states. Yes, this kills a lot of the tension, but I think it’s worth it for what it adds for quality of life. Having to replay sections after failing because of limited save points (especiallly if you have to do so repeatedly) is not fun.

Added my vote for Motor City Online. I've been trying to get EA.to.release.it in single player for 24 years now.

This is great. Me and a couple friends play a "game club", kind of like book club but for games instead, and Dino Crisis is on the list. Least I know I can get it through GOG now.
