Dragon Quest I - III original Switch or HD 2D?
Original switch release or hd 2d?
So I have the original switch releases of I, II, and III that are based on the mobile ports. I beat one already a year or two ago and had a decent time. My question is should I play II and III as I have them or get the hd 2d remake.
I know it seems like the hd 2d remake is the obvious choice but I have some caveats. I'm a stay at home caretaker of a family member. Currently unemployed (though I'm trying to get caretaking for them as a job) so I'd have to wait and only get one of the releases as a Christmas gift and the other as a birthday gift next summer should employment not come through by then.
I know the remakes of I and III aren't out yet but based on your impressions and what III hd 2d is like.
So I'm wondering if it's worth waiting and sacrificing other potential games when I have two playable versions now.
Thoughts?
I’m a fan of playing what you have. It’s already there! I have fond memories of playing “inferior” or older versions of games. If you love the game, you could always get the newer version in the future for a second play through.
I remember starting playing Persona5 just one week before the release of the Royal version, I still had a lot of fun playing it though, I have no idea what extra content royal added, but I felt satisfied with the version I played.
Yeah I bought persona five for like 20 bucks right after royal came out and definitely got a fun experience. Didn't feel like I was missing anything. In fact I have to wonder if the royal edition would be too much for me lol!
I also played the original version on PS3, since I didn't have a PS4. Didn't feel like it was missing anything at all! If anything, even the base game had more content than I would ever have time to get through.
Thanks, that's kind of where I'm leaning because I only get new games twice a year.
I just finished playing a translated SNES version of DQ3. Still holds up pretty well for what it is. I had to force myself not to look up any guides on where to find things but it made a lot more fun when I finally figured it all out.
commenting to not lose this thread since I'm also interested :)
