I learned how to replace RAM and install a discrete GPU thanks to the OG Guild Wars. I can't remember the exact card but it was a Sapphire Radeon and it was only like $40. It was a fun game, all my buddies at the time were playing it, and I lucked into an awesome guild and even helped win the guild war once.
That said, I was a teenager. I don't have time for MMOs anymore and I have no interest in playing this. I was also slightly triggered by the title, as the last "remake" to call itself "reforged" completely destroyed one of the greatest games of all time, that being Warcraft 3. I will never forgive blizzard for that atrocity.
I'm with you on having reforged be tainted what Blizzard did. We should be fair to the small indie company Activision-Blizzard, after all they were only worth a paltry ~71+ billion USD in 2020...

The first game with a "remaster" update! $20 for Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall (Eye of the North is separate, $10). I completely missed this was happening. Guild Wars site Steam page

I occasionally jump onto GW1 and play a few missions just for the nostalgia, really excited to see some life brought into it again, I was never taken by 2 in the same way.

You could theory craft some awesome combos depending on what you were up against, since there are thousands of skills and you could have two professions (minor & major) the options are almost endless.
Just found this sheet from Reddit that shows the number of skill combinations. Kinda insane haha.
This meant there were tons of nefs when campaigns came out as people thought of crazy combos, check out 55hp monk as an og example.
GW2 really reduced this (presuming because it was a nightmare in the original game for the devs) but it was a part I really loved thinking about and coming up with solutions to difficult areas/foes etc.
Oh yeah I remember folks mentioning that! Playing around with that freedom is probably worth price of admission for me. I recall in its original rendition FFXIV had a similar freedom in mix and...

If you enjoy 2 it's worth picking up for this price, it's a little different and less open world as in you party up and then head out into the wilderness but still if you like the story/world it's...

It's not a remaster or remake at all, just mostly engine stuff so the game runs fine on modern hardware, so no worries there, at least

I enjoy 2, is there anything specific to 1 you like better or it simply didn't click?

I'm definitely biased however haha
Anyone know the status of Hall of Heroes in Reforged, because at the end of the day that would be my main interest in booking back to this.
I logged in and everything is super busy, 12 districts in pre searing.
Didn't check out PvP however.
