This game is currently at 89 on Metacritic based on 53 critic reviews, which makes it the highest rated Pokemon game in the entire franchise. Will be interested to see what people think about this one on the weekly!
The new Animal Crossing style Pokemon game is out this Thursday and it has some surprisingly high amount of reviews so far! I would be checking it out if StS2 didn't come out the same day
Related: I wish they played the trailer for Pokémon Day earlier. Particularly the bits starting at the 3:45 mark. Most of the trailers and footage so far have been focusing on the early parts of the gameplay and the town, but this trailer feels like the first real glimpse of the game's full scope. Seeing the other areas we can explore makes it feel a lot more expansive and like a proper adventure!
Granted, I was already getting it because it basically combines my two favorite franchises of all time, but still. The earliest trailers and footage did feel a bit empty.
Also, Prop Hunt. I have always wanted to play Prop Hunt, and now I can! :D
Has anyone played this Pokopia? I am interested in buying for a gift for my niece and nephew. Curious to what people think.
Side note: I feel like there a lot of bots commenting on this game in other forums right now and it is hard to gauge the true popularity of this game and if it will still be popular in the coming months.
I've been playing it since release, and have not been this absorbed in a game in a long time. I keep losing track of time even though it technically uses real time (no clock shows up in-game, and you can change time on your system easily to change the time in-game). I am a lifelong fan of Pokémon and Animal Crossing (I cite those two franchises as the reason I'll always eventually buy Nintendo consoles), and I can already tell I'll easily put in hundreds of hours into this game just because of how versatile the building options are.
And from what I know, most players agree. One of my friends is also playing it, and we just talk about Pokopia every day right now because we're both having a blast just building stuff and decorating. Cozy gamer content shows up on my Youtube feed a lot, and based on thumbnails alone everyone really likes it. Most cozy games are indie projects which often means they can be a bit buggy and unpolished (especially 3D games), so having a AAA-level game for once is really refreshing. It's raising my standards for cozy games a bit, which is probably a good thing. (Actually, I'm now realizing my like for pixel games is because they tend to be more well-polished and are less buggy...)
If anything, your niece and nephew might have trouble sharing it. Thankfully it doesn't have the "shared world" problem that Animal Crossing has where all profiles use the same world, so they won't fight over the builds or progressing the story.
I truly appreciate your response.
I really feel like there are a lot of bots out on social media sites pushing a narrative about this game and a few others.
So it is really cool to get feedback about the game in a setting like Tildes! Thanks.
Yeah, it’s really good. My 8 and 4 year old daughters are super into it. 4 year old is struggling, but she loves Pokémon a ton and is still enjoying it while minimally progressing. 8 year old is doing great with it. I’m also enjoying it (37 male), but have not been singularly focused yet as I’m trying to complete the ZA DLC Pokedex.
My bestie is immensely enjoying it, it has sucked them in for >30hrs in the past week. They haven't played pokemon so there has been a lot of novelty in seeing all the different ones. They called it a better animal crossing (new horizons). They weren't very sure, but seemed to think they'd get ~50hrs total though that'd be extended with players doing more building.
I really appreciate the input, please see my other response to the previous poster. It applies to you as well. Thanks!
We’re not getting it at launch (although, Spring Break is next week…), but will definitely get it by summer. Pumped about the solid reviews!
