Slay The Spire 2

Hey team, wondering if anyone on tildes be keen to play Slay The Spire 2. I'm in Melbourne, Australia, so that's my rough time zone. But yeah none of my friends play it, I'm obsessed with it, I'm pretty close to buying the physical boardgame, but would love to try multiplayer.

I am quite in the same boat. I do have a couple friends here and there to play coop because they wanted to try. But they were just one-offs. I'm down in principle but timezones are gonna be tricky...

I'm down in principle but timezones are gonna be tricky as hell as I'm in GMT +2.

I've been playing it regularly with a group of friends for awhile now. We usually meet around 7pm PST which is around noon aussie time I think. I can add you on steam if you want to try then.

The time we've been meeting has usually been around 6 PM ET (8 AM Melbourne time) but depending on the day I could probably go much later to make scheduling easier.

Opinions on Slay the Spire Board Game

If you wanted an opinion on the board game, I've been lucky enough to play a couple times, and in short I'll think it's 2 things:

    • It's much more challenging and "balanced" than STS2 multiplayer. It's much closer to the difficulty offered by the STS1/2 single player experience, while the STS2 multiplayer seems much more optimized for fun over challenge given the recent multiplayer card additions (which is fine by me, I love running nonsense with friends).
    • It's really long, like 3 hours to get through Act 1 with people who have played before. No group I've played with has ever had time to get through Act 2, even when we're winning. There is a way to save progress, but that only makes sense per-act which again needs hours. It's faster with fewer people and has a solo mode, but what's the fun in that? (I know people enjoy that but the existence of the video game is a strong argument against solo play)
    • (Bonus) There's metaprogression. Yes, the board game has achievements and an unlock track for certain character cards, Act IV, and Ascensions, all of which have little wrapped packs that say "DON'T OPEN UNTIL UNLOCKED". Conceptually a cute way to emulate video game progression, and there's a natural "unlock all" function if you're not into that sort of thing.

I would be happy to play, I am in New Zealand so only a couple hours ahead. DM me and let me know if you want to jam!
